Ravenwolf towers, the dark saga of a family of incestuous lunatics lording over the remains of a looming, formerly opulent and now dilapidated Hollywood hotel.

At the center of it all is the spastic, inbred clan whose minds have become irrevocably warped as they live, love, die and commit all manner of sin within the walls of ‘The Towers.’

New Friday the 13th Part 3 Documentary on its Way!

0

When you think of horror documentaries, you rarely think of specific sequels getting that kind of treatment, but that’s not stopping the filmmakers of The Friday the 13th Part 3 Memoriam Documentary from doling out something of quality for the fans!

Via the film’s official Facebook page, director Kevin R. Phipps gives us a taste of what to expect:

In April 2013, the Friday the 13th family suddenly lost Mr. Richard Brooker. Portraying Jason in Friday the 13th part 3, he was the first individual to don the now iconic hockey mask. Richard was a terrific human being & a friend to all.

In addition, the Higgins Haven cabin used in the film burned down by some careless vagrants in 2006. These two events sparked Sean into action to do something with the one of a kind on location video footage he shot from 2003 & 2005. It was the last footage and photography shot before the set’s demise in 2006.

The project has grown leaps and bounds over the past year & continues to bring on board various Friday the 13th alumni that starred in part 3 as well friends of Richard’s that are still working in the film industry today. Their interviews are pivotal in giving the backstory of the production of part 3 as well as insight into the man Richard Brooker was.

The project’s roots started in Indiana, then onward to Arizona as well as in L.A. This documentary’s intentions are to preserve the memory of this movie & Richard Brooker. The project’s final goal is to support the Arizona & LA film communities as well as bringing more revenue for more jobs to the artistic talent to each of these respective areas.

Look for more soon! In the interim dig the trailer.

Mr. Mercedes Cruises in with New Casting News

The cast is filling out for the upcoming adaptation of the Stephen King tale Mr. Mercedes, as Deadline is reporting that “Magic City” alumna Kelly Lynch has landed a key role in AT&T Audience Network’s upcoming drama series.

Based on Stephen King’s 2014 book of the same name, the “Mr. Mercedes” series follows a demented killer who taunts a retired police detective with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

David E. Kelley is writing the adaptation, which is being produced by Sonar Entertainment, and Jack Bender (“Lost”) is set to direct. Both executive produce along with Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. Lynch will play Deborah Hartsfield, Brady Hartsfield’s (Harry Treadaway) complicated mother. Despite her troubles, Deborah tries to have a normal relationship with her deeply troubled son but is rarely successful.

More soon!

Lionsgate to Thrill Social Media With XOXO

Social media has changed all the rules of our lifestyle and done so in a hurry. Including movies. Deadline is reporting that Lionsgate is moving forward again on the social-media thriller XOXO, signing “Greenleaf” co-showrunner Clement Virgo to rewrite and direct.

Darren Aronofsky and Groundswell Productions’ Michael London are attached to produce the film, which follows an up-and-comer executive with a real-life fiancée having an online affair.

The studio has been working to bring the film to the screen since 2011, when it acquired the script from Black Swan scribe Mark Heyman. Lionsgate previously tapped The Adjustment Bureau director George Nolfi to rewrite and direct, though that version of the film ultimately didn’t move forward.

Virgo serves as co-showrunner and a writer on the multi-generational family drama series “Greenleaf,” which airs on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN from Lionsgate TV. His previous credits include the BET miniseries “The Book of Negroes,” which he co-wrote and directed. Virgo has also directed episodes of “American Crime,” “The Wire,” and “The ‘L’ Word.”

No idea how Dread-worthy this one will be, but if there’s a need for us to cover it we will.

Marvel New Mutants Director to Tackle Stephen King’s Revival! Russell Crowe Attached!

One of Stephen King’s many gloriously terrifying novels that are up for adaptation is Revival, and it’s soon to be on its way! During an interview with Creative Screenwriting, director Josh Boone revealed the following interesting tidbits.

I have a good relationship with Stephen King,” says Boone. “So when I wanted to adapt his novel Revival I really just went and asked him. I was able to write it in a very pleasant bubble and we attached Russell Crowe. I plan to make that right after New Mutants.

More as it comes.

Book Synopsis:
In a small New England town, over half a century ago, a shadow falls over a small boy playing with his toy soldiers. Jamie Morton looks up to see a striking man, the new minister. Charles Jacobs, along with his beautiful wife, will transform the local church. The men and boys are all a bit in love with Mrs. Jacobs; the women and girls feel the same about Reverend Jacobs—including Jamie’s mother and beloved sister, Claire. With Jamie, the Reverend shares a deeper bond based on a secret obsession. When tragedy strikes the Jacobs family, this charismatic preacher curses God, mocks all religious belief, and is banished from the shocked town.

Jamie has demons of his own. Wed to his guitar from the age of thirteen, he plays in bands across the country, living the nomadic lifestyle of bar-band rock and roll while fleeing from his family’s horrific loss. In his mid-thirties—addicted to heroin, stranded, desperate—Jamie meets Charles Jacobs again, with profound consequences for both men. Their bond becomes a pact beyond even the Devil’s devising, and Jamie discovers that revival has many meanings.

We Are the Flesh Comes Stateside Via Arrow; Premiering in LA on January 13th

We are LOVING the fact the Arrow Films is bringing its brand of excellence Stateside, and the goodies just keep right on coming! Next up we just got word that the stellar distributor will be releasing Emiliano Rocha Minter’s insanity-laden We Are the Flesh (review) on Blu-ray and DVD on February 14, 2017.

But that’s not all – there will also be a theatrical rollout beforehand, with the premiere taking place in Los Angeles on January 13th at Laemmle’s Ahrya Fine Arts Theatre, 8556 Wilshire Blvd., expanding to ten additional cities across the U.S. to be announced.

From the Press Release:
A visionary and bizarre slice of Mexican arthouse cinema, We Are the Flesh is an extraordinary and unsettling film experience, a sexually charged and nightmarish journey into an otherworldly dimension of carnal desire and excess, as well as a powerful allegory on the corrupting power of human desire.

A young brother and sister, roaming an apocalyptic city, take refuge in the dilapidated lair of a strange hermit. He puts them to work building a bizarre cavernous structure, where he acts out his insane and depraved fantasies. Trapped in this maddening womb-like world under his malign influence, they find themselves sinking into the realms of dark and forbidden behaviour.

Mixing the graphic, powerful imagery of Gaspar Noe’s Love and Enter the Void with the surreal, hallucinatory impact of Alejandro Jodorowsky, We Are the Flesh is a bizarre, psychedelic head trip, mixing intense, outrageously explicit imagery with a profound allegory on the nature of existence to make this an unforgettable, boundary-pushing experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

Special Features:

  • New interviews with director Emiliano Rocha Minter and actors Noé Hernández, María Evoli, and Diego Gamaliel
  • New video appreciation by critic Virginie Sélavy
  • Original theatrical trailer
  • Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork
  • FIRST PRESSING ONLY: Illustrated collector’s booklet featuring new writing on the film by critic Anton Bitel and a note from the producer on the film.

Wrestler Tom Latimer Stars in New Slasher Crazy Lake

0
0

Most of the craziest stuff in the US goes down in Florida, so in a twisted sort of way, it almost seems fitting that the new slasher movie Crazy Lake was filmed in the Sunshine State.

Jason Henne and Christopher Leto are the duo behind the camera on this literally crazy sounding film, which stars Libby Blanton, Marco DelVecchio, and professional wrestler Tom Latimer. It deputed at the Sunscreen Film Festival earlier this year, and you can stay updated about its general release on Facebook.

Synopsis:
A vacation in a cabin by a lake for four twentysomething couples turns into a nightmare when a secret government experiment goes awry.

Introduced to eager audiences at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, filmmaker/musician Rob Zombie’s latest blood-soaked film, 31, involves a group of carnival workers who come face-to-face with a gang of murderous clowns on Halloween night. A game of life-or-death will determine their fate.

The new making-of clip sees Zombie discussing his work with the cast of 31, which includes Malcolm McDowell and Meg Foster. 31 is available to watch stream exclusively on AMC Network’s horror streaming service Shudder.

To wish everyone a very scary Christmas, Rob Zombie has teamed up with PETA for a limited-edition Spooky Holiday Stocking, now available at PETACatalog.com.

As the vegan musician and horror director shares in a quirky new video, his “own special Christmas stocking—yes, it’s in black” is packed with vegan goodies, from a “Flesh Is for Zombies” mug to savory snacks and delicious sweets, including “hot cocoa, for a spooky holiday.” We think it’s the perfect gift for brain-suckers and vegans alike!
