Word has come that Pascal Laugier's latest horror flick, The Tall Man, will be making its way to both Blu-ray and DVD on September 25th via Image Entertainment. No special features or artwork has been released as of yet, but stay tuned.

The Tall Man is written and directed by Pascal Laugier and produced by Clément Miserez (Radar Films) and Kevin DeWalt (Mind’s Eye Entertainment) along with Jean-Charles Levy (Forecast Pictures) and Scott Kennedy (Highwire Pictures). Jessica Biel (New Years Eve, The A-Team), Jodelle Ferland (The Cabin in the Woods, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), Stephen McHattie (Immortals, 2012), William B. More casting news is coming in for the highly anticipated guaranteed box office blockbuster that nobody asked for, Scary Movie 5. Read on for the details of just who will be the next to be subjected to lame sight gags and bad pot jokes.

Variety reports that Erica Ash (pictured) is set to join Ashley Tisdale in Dimension's Scary Movie 5, which begins production this summer. Ash will play a friend and rival dancer to Tisdale’s character. Best known for her work on “MADtv,” Ash was most recently seen in the Broadway play Baby It’s You.

Scary Movie 5 will spoof Black Swan, Paranormal Activity, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and 127 Hours. David Zucker, who wrote and directed both Scary Movie 3 and 4, will also be returning to co-write and produce the fifth installment alongside director Malcolm Lee.

Admit it. If you've been to a movie theatre lately, you've thought about it. The morons with their cellphones. Texting with their stupid shortcut lingo and emoticons while you're trying to watch a movie. Wouldn't it be nice to round 'em up and bury 'em alive?

While not exactly along those lines, the new horror flick from director Leigh Sheehan, 6 Plots, brings some of that revenge fantasy to life. Check out the first details and more below. Synopsis

This weekend’s premiere of Jersey Shore Shark Attack begins the first of four straight weeks of new Syfy creature features. We now have our first look at what to expect three Saturdays from now when New Orleans is under siege by huge albino spiders unleashed by an Arachnoquake.

Swamp Shark director Griff Furst unleashes a new terror on Southern Louisiana in this Syfy original from writers Paul A. Birkett (Altitude) and Eric Forsberg (Mega Piranha). It’s up to Tracey Gold (“Growing Pains”), Edward Furlong (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Ethan Philips (“Star Trek: Voyager”), and the appropriately named Bug Hall (American Pie Presents: The Book of Love) to save the Big Easy from a horde of over-sized albino spiders set loose from their underground lair by an earthquake.

I’m going to assume that the earth beneath the below sea level city of New Orleans being heavily saturated with water explains how these fire-breathing arachnids have been kept at bay all these years prior to an earthquake opening up their escape route. Being that they are most likely used to dealing with subterranean water also explains why they’re able to swim after boats as seen in the trailer. Yeah, I’m probably just over-thinking this.

Entertainment Weekly’s Inside TV debuted the Arachnoquake trailer today, and it looks like big dumb fun (click the image below to see it since it isn't embeddable). Even if you’re arachnophobic, I don’t think you’ll have too much trouble watching this trailer because there’s something about the look of the spiders that makes them appear almost robotic in nature.

Arachnoquake has its world premiere on Syfy June 23rd at 9/8 Central.

Time to add a bit of naughty fun to your afternoon as we have dug our claws into some not safe for work eye candy for you cats in celebration of Full Moon's new flick Zombies vs. Strippers. Make sure no one is looking, and check it out!

Before you get all crazy, no, these are not the fanged kind of lore or even the Twilight kind of bore. Dating back 800 years to the Middle Ages, suspected vampires were exorcised by piercing their chests with rods. Scientists have just stumbled across two such victims.

According to Channel News Asia, archaeologists in Bulgaria have unearthed two skeletons from the Middle Ages pierced through the chest with iron rods to keep them from turning into vampires, the head of the history museum said.

"These two skeletons stabbed with rods illustrate a practice which was common in some Bulgarian villages up until the first decade of the 20th century," said national history museum chief Bozhidar Dimitrov after the recent find in the Black Sea town of Sozopol.

According to pagan beliefs, people who were considered bad during their lifetimes might turn into vampires after death unless stabbed in the chest with an iron or wooden rod before being buried. It was believed that the rod would also pin them down in their graves to prevent them from leaving at midnight and terrorizing the living, the historian explained.

The practice was common, Dimitrov added, saying some 100 similar burials had already been found in Bulgaria.

Brandon Cronenberg's new film Antiviral has found itself some domestic distro via IFC Films so it won't be long until all of us get a chance to see if young Brandon is a chip off of his father's wonderfully demented block!

Synopsis

Late last year we debuted the cover art for Issue #3 of The Strain comic book series, and now Dark Horse Comics has sent over an early look at the artwork for Issue #8, which goes on sale September 12th, for us to share.

More top-shelf casting news has come in for MGM's RoboCop reboot, and it makes us yearn for a crossover "versus" flick along the lines of Shaft vs. RoboCop. In a perfect world! Read on for the latest regarding who'll be doing what in Jose Padilha's new take on the now classic 1987 flick.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Samuel L. Jackson is joining the cast of RoboCop, which sees Joel Kinnaman ("The Killing") as the title hero, a cop named Alex Murphy who is brought back from the brink of death and turned into a cyborg police officer. Gary Oldman has already been cast as his scientist-creator. Jackson will play Pat Novak, a charismatic media mogul and a powerful force in the RoboCop world.

Currently the film has a tentative release date of August 9th, 2013.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films will bestow its top honorary achievement awards on renowned director Frank Oz, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, and actor James Remar on July 26th, when the Academy presents the 38th annual Saturn Awards.

Oz, Remar, Kirkman, and producers of "The Simpsons" (this year's Milestone Award winner) are expected to attend this year’s Saturn Awards ceremony at the Castaway Event Center in Burbank, California.

“Genre filmmaking continues to dominate movies, TV and entertainment, and for four decades the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror film has been the only organization to honor the talented artists whose vision of wonder know no bounds,” said Academy President Robert Holguin. “They stimulate our imaginations and showcase the best in contemporary filmmaking and television, and we’re proud to honor these remarkable people – and to announce the winners of this year’s Saturn Awards – at this year’s awards show.”

A few weeks ago we got word about author D.R. O'Brien's new horror-comedy mash-up Shakespeare vs. Lovecraft, and now a trailer for the novella has arrived.

We already knew that there's a Darksiders novel on its way along with a "bible" for the game set for release at the same time as Darksiders II, and out of E3 2012 has come word that a digital comic series from Dark Horse is coming, too!

According to Variety All You Need Is Kill scribe Joby Harold is in negotiations to rewrite The Twilight Zone for Warner Bros. and Appian Way. Cloverfield helmer Matt Reeves is set to direct from a script originally penned by Jason Rothenberg and subsequently rewritten by Sherlock Holmes scribe Anthony Peckham. Warner Bros. has been looking for a sci-fi-friendly scribe to get the script into shooting shape, as the studio views the pic as a potential tentpole.

Unlike the 1983 feature that had four separate storylines, this film will have one story that features elements from the "Twilight Zone" universe made popular by Rod Serling's classic TV series. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Michael Ireland will produce for Appian Way.

Time travel is as hot a subject today as it ever has been. The thought of traversing through different periods of human history is both thought provoking and the kind of stuff that makes old Doc Brown shit in his pants. With all this back and forth it's about time someone found some footage along the way!

Variety reports that DreamWorks has shelled out mid-six figures to acquire Glimmer, a sci-fi/fantasy spec written by Carter Blanchard. The script is described as an "Amblin-esque" found-footage tale involving teenagers and time travel.

Adam Kolbrenner will produce for Madhouse, whose Robyn Meisinger and Ryan Cunningham will exec produce. No telling how Dread worthy this flick is going to turn out but we'll keep on eye on things and if there's a need to report back, you'll find it right here. Stay tuned!
