Mezco Unveils Trick ‘r Treat Sam Stylized Figure

0
0

Mezco’s 6-inch stylized figures are some of the coolest collectibles out there, and they’ve announced a new addition to the line: Sam from Trick ‘r Treat! He’s not arriving until later this year so you have some time to collect your pennies and drool…

About Mezco’s Trick ‘r Treat Sam 6″ Stylized Figure:
Straight from the cult status film Trick ‘r Treat comes Sam, the enforcer of the rules of Halloween. Part pumpkin, part supernatural being, Sam shows no mercy to those who disrespect his holiday.

This Sam is presented in our signature super-deformed style. He may look child-like and dressed for trick-or-treating, but Sam is the personification of Halloween itself. He stands nearly 6″ tall and features 5 points of articulation. He comes complete with his ever-present trick-or-treat sack and his half-eaten translucent pumpkin lollipop.

Sam is packaged in a specially die-cut window box suitable for display. Just remember… he can watch you from inside the box so don’t blow out your pumpkin until midnight.

You can pre-order Sam now from Mezco Toys for just $23. He’ll arrive in the July/August 2017 time frame.

We Are the Flesh – Calm Down and Watch This Exclusive Clip

To get you primed and ready for its home video premiere on February 14th, Arrow just shot over an exclusive clip for you cats for its upcoming release of We Are the Flesh (review).

WE ARE THE FLESH on Blu-ray and DVD on February 14, 2017 (pre-order here)

A visionary and bizarre slice of Mexican art house cinema, We Are the Flesh is an extraordinary and unsettling film experience, a sexually charged and nightmarish journey into an otherworldy dimension of carnal desire and excess, as well as a powerful allegory on the corrupting power of human desire.

Acclaimed by the Oscar-winning Mexican directors of The Revenant and Gravity and playing to rave reviews and stunned audiences at genre film festivals around the world, We Are the Flesh is that rare beast – an intelligent, beautifully crafted arthouse film that is also provocative and deeply disturbing. Mixing the graphic, powerful imagery of Gaspar Noé’s Love and Enter the Void with the surreal, hallucinatory impact of Alejandro Jodorowsky and taking Mexican arthouse cannibal flick We Are What We Are to the next level, We Are the Flesh is a bizarre, psychedelic head trip, mixing intense, outrageously explicit imagery with a profound allegory on the nature of existence to make this is an unforgettable, boundary-pushing experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

Visionary, unrelenting, and certainly not for the prudish or faint-hearted, We Are the Flesh is an erotic inferno of the senses that manages to pack all manner of delirium into its short running time, including incest, necrophilia, and cannibalism. This is extreme art cinema at its boldest and most taboo-bustingly bizarre.

In the film a young brother and sister, roaming an apocalyptic city, take refuge in the dilapidated lair of a strange hermit. He puts them to work building a bizarre cavernous structure, where he acts out his insane and depraved fantasies. Trapped in this maddening womb-like world under his malign influence, they find themselves sinking into the realms of dark and forbidden behaviour.

Tampoon (Short, 2017)

0

Starring Alexandra August, JJ Dunlap, Jeanne Jo

Directed by Jeanne Jo

Uh, well…needless to say when this little pearl was sent across to me, I was a bit perplexed as to how I was going to properly word this one up, regardless of how I felt about it. Forget about the title, Tampoon, or the premise of which is a woman’s feminine hygiene product with a mind of its own, and once it’s inserted…yeah, this one simply had me at a creative standstill.

A cute little maiden (August) is in the process of dolling herself up for a date with her fella (Dunlap), and just one more thing needs to be tended to before she can put the wraps on her preparation – you guessed it: the ol’ telescope on a string trick. Seems that the only thing between this gal and a romantic tango with her beau is the fact that Aunt Flo is in town, and she needs to be stopped at the depot before the next bus pulls in. But something is up with this womanly blockade – it appears to want to protect her from making a huge mistake, and it will more than likely claim a victim before the night is over.

Look, I could explicate this 7-minute quickie till the cows come home, but I just think for this to truly be appreciated, you’ve got to see it for yourselves. Is it worth the watch? For a scant 7 minutes, I suppose so – there’s nothing overly horrific to traumatize your eyeballs…wait, I take that back. Yeah, this is pretty alarming, especially to the guy-set. If you’re willing to brace yourselves for what could potentially be the greatest short film championing abstinence, then by all means give this one a look – however, if this just isn’t your cup of tea, then feel free to discard this into the proper receptacle…and for god’s sake wash your hands afterwards.

Somewhere hidden deep within every film from the Resident Evil franchise… amidst all the chaos, slow mo, leather pants, and CG… there lies a story. Given the fact that this series is so off the wall and review proof (I stopped caring what that story was long ago and have been gleefully into it just for eye candy and kicks) many have lost track of what’s going on. Good thing franchise star Milla Jovovich is here to catch us up in this new two-minute video.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter was written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and stars series regulars Milla Jovovich, Iain Glen, Ali Larter, and Shawn Roberts in addition to newcomers Lee Joon-gi, Rola, William Levy, and Ruby Rose.

Look for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter on January 27, 2017.

Complete B.S. – Faux Leatherface Rampages on UK DVD

If you’re an importer of UK DVD’s this story is a cautionary tale for you. Yes, sometimes movies are released across the pond before they are domestically, but in this case DO NOT BE FOOLED!

Lightning Pictures released a movie this week in the UK entitled Leatherface but it is NOT Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury’s Leatherface (a release date for that is as of yet to be determined). Instead the film is actually Rene Perez’s Playing with Dolls: Bloodlust, the sequel to his 2014 film Playing with Dolls.

The flick, which is available now on VOD via Gravitas Ventures, stars Richard Tyson, Karin Brauns, Colin Bryant, and Elonda Seawood, has ZERO to do with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Thanks to Bloody Disgusting for the head’s up!

Shame on you, Lightning Pictures.

Synopsis:
A group of aspiring actors are chosen for a reality Horror TV show where they must survive a Slasher movie. In time, the actors discover that the show is fake but they Slasher is real; who has been sent out to kill them.

Complete B.S. – The Walking Dead to Tone Down Violence

0
0

Wow, two complete bullshit stories in one day! File this one under “ill-placed blame.” Variety is reporting that “The Walking Dead” producers toned down some of the violence in the first half of Season 7 after strong viewer backlash to a gruesome killing scene in the season opener.

“Walking Dead” exec producer Gale Anne Hurd acknowledged Wednesday that the negative response to the bludgeon slayings of two key characters in the premiere prompted producers to make adjustments in episodes that were still in production at the time of the October 23 season premiere.

We were able to look at the feedback on the level of violence,” Hurd said during a panel session at the NATPE conference. “We did tone it down for episodes we were still filming for later on in the season.

Hurd spoke on a panel with AMC Networks president-CEO Josh Sapan and “Fear the Walking Dead” star Colman Domingo, moderated by Michael Schneider, executive editor of Indiewire and editor at large for Variety.

Hurd made it clear that the response made an impact on the production team.

This is not a show that is torture porn,” she said. After the response to the finale, she said they gave strong consideration to making sure “we don’t cross that line.

Sapan and Hurd also noted that the extreme reaction to the season premiere underscored how deeply fans care about the show.

When something matters a lot and it has a universality, then you’re bothered by it and you care about it,” Sapan said.

Here’s the thing… it’s not the level of violence that’s to blame for the show underperforming, though that’s an easy scapegoat to take. If the scene they are referencing were not as violent as it was… as brutal as it was in the comics… it wouldn’t have had the same impact. Viewers should be uncomfortable witnessing man’s cruelty to man. If a strong reaction was garnered by viewers then you have done your job. What’s bringing the show down is its constant meandering and predictability. Fans are well trained to know when the big episodes where stuff goes down will occur… usually in the season premieres or finales. Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan is the best thing going on the show, but he can’t carry the series on his back. Don’t point your fingers at the excessive usage of latex and corn syrup for the lower than usual ratings (which are still doing stellar numbers BTW), point your fingers at the showrunners and writers.

“The Walking Dead” returns to AMC in February with Episode 7.09. In the upcoming episode, Jesus (Tom Payne) leads Rick and company to the Kingdom in hopes of convincing King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) to team up with them and the Hilltop against a common threat.

“The Walking Dead” Season 7 stars Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Sonequa Martin-Green, Alanna Masterson, Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Xander Berkeley, Austin Amelio, and Tom Payne.

Season 7B kicks off on February 12, 2017.

Cult Classic Board Game Necromunda Sees New Life as Necromunda: Underhive Wars

0
0

It’s no surprise to hear about a new Warhammer video game being announced these days, but Necromunda: Underhive Wars certainly has our full attention. There are a few reasons for this. First, Just look at this original Necromunda box art:

Necromunda

It’s like the Thunderdome fucked a Megadeth album in the middle of a mosh pit.

OOOH SHIT YEAH! That dude’s so badass his nipple needs two rings! Metal as fuck. You see, Necromunda comes from a time where Warhammer 40k was unironically ridiculous. This was an era where biker space dwarves were still canon, and evil Slaanesh Noise Marines could literally melt your face with the power of rock. Which leads me straight into the second reason we’re stoked on Necromunda: Underhive Wars. Aside from Game’s Workshop announcing their “Specialist Product Design Studio” that super duper promises to support these older games, Necromunda hasn’t seen an update since 40k‘s Second Edition. That’s like 20 years ago.

And hey, if Game’s Workshop is going to drag their feet on letting me live my grimdark Mad Max space battle fantasies, Rogue Factor are happy to pick up the slack. This is the third reason we’re excited about Necromunda: Underhive Wars. After resurrecting another Game’s Workshop specialty game with Mordheim: City of the Damned, Rogue Factor has set their sites on bringing Necromunda into the digital age. This is a good thing. The dev team has experience, and has shown they can keep loyal to the core mechanics while adding their own flair. Plus with a game as complex as Necromunda (the three dimensional board is a mind bender), the benefit of a computer handling all the setup for you is a godsend.

Focus Home Interactive will once again return to publish Necromunda: Underhive Wars, which will be displayed at the What’s Next de Focus event in Paris from February 1-2.

18 January 2017 – Focus Home Interactive and Rogue Factor to adapt Games Workshop®’s Warhammer® 40,000® cult classic, Necromunda™: Underhive Wars™
After a successful first collaboration on Mordheim™: City of the Damned, released on PC and consoles, Focus Home Interactive and Rogue Factor today proudly announce a new partnership with Games Workshop to begin development of Necromunda: Underhive Wars, the adaptation of cult classic tabletop game Necromunda, set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars is a turn-based tactical RPG. Rival gangs of ruthless warriors are locked in an endless war for control of the Underhive, a gigantic warren of derelict factories, rusted metal husks, and forgotten technologies. Anarchy, violence, betrayal and death rule this hellish place, long forsaken by any semblance of civilization.

“Rogue Factor’s collaboration with Focus and Games Workshop is a story of trust, hard work, and true passion for the Warhammer Universe. Our adventure began by building the foundations of Mordheim: City of the Damned Early Access. Regarded as a highly successful and well-executed endeavour, the Early Access of Mordheim: City of the Damned gathered a vast number of passionate gamers that helped foster an amazing community and improved many aspects of the game. After a strong launch on PC and consoles, and an incredible experience with many lessons learned, the way was paved for our next step in conquering the tactical RPG genre: Necromunda: Underhive Wars.”
-Yves Bordeleau, General Manager at Rogue Factor.

“We are delighted to welcome Necromunda: Underhive Wars to the catalogue of great games based on our worlds and settings. Rogue Factor and Focus Home Interactive made a wonderful Mordheim: City of the Damned game and having done such a great job they’re clearly the right people to realize the nightmarish world of Necromunda. Now fans of this unique and highly influential IP will at last be able to pick up their stubber and search for cool archaeotech whilst wiping out rival gangs throughout the Underhive.”
-Jon Gillard, Head of Licensing at Games Workshop.

More info will be unveiled at What’s Next de Focus event in Paris, on February 1st and 2nd.

Fresh Details on Upcoming God of War

0
0

Although we haven’t seen anything else from the game yet, we were treated to some tidbits of information about the upcoming God of War (they apparently forgot to put the 4 at the end of the title) over the last few days.

Firstly, the announcement trailer shown at E3 has now surpassed 15 million views on Youtube, making it the most watched video on the PlayStation channel. To celebrate, the trailer’s soundtrack was made available to download here, complete with thunderous applause from the audience.

And while it’s not much to go on, the game’s director and God of War series veteran Cory Barlog confirmed on Twitter that Kratos’ son will be named Atreus. Why is this a big deal, you ask? Well, because in Greek Mythology, Atreus was a grandson of Zeus who was banished after killing his own brother, before eventually becoming the king of Mycenae. At the moment, we can only speculate about his this will relate to his appearance in the game, but it’s better than nothing.

From what we’ve seen so far, this installment is likely gonna ditch the hyper Devil May Cry-style action in favor of a cooperative style of gameplay that has more in common with The Last of Us, with players controlling both Kratos and Atreus. But needless to say, the unflinching brutality that the series has become infamous for will still be intact. Whether it’s tearing a centaur’s intestine’s out of their stomach or pulling a cyclops’ eyeball out of its socket, Kratos such doesn’t mess around when it comes to messing up his enemies. Helios’ controversial death scene also remains on of the most shocking moments in gaming history.

The series has run into censorship problems in countries like Germany and Japan, where graphic violence in video games is heavily restricted. So as much as it pains me to say this, it’s looking likely that 4 will be censored in some territories upon its release.

Anyway, we probably don’t have long to wait until more footage debuts. After Horizon Zero Dawn hits stores next month, expect Sony to focus much more of their marketing efforts on God of War.

Vogt-Roberts is directing the film from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy, and Derek Connolly. Kong: Skull Island is produced by Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni with Mary Parent. The executive producers are Eric McLeod and Alex Garcia.

To fully immerse audiences in the mysterious Skull Island, director Vogt-Roberts, his cast, and the filmmaking team filmed across three continents over six months, capturing its primordial landscapes on Oahu, Hawaii; on Australia’s Gold Coast; and finally in Vietnam, where filming took place across multiple locations, some of which have never before been seen on film.

Kong: Skull Island will be released worldwide in 2D, 3D in select theaters, and IMAX beginning March 10, 2017, from Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Synopsis:
A diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific – as beautiful as it is treacherous – unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.
