The Girl at the Bar Is Waiting; New Thriller Novel Now Available!

Nicholas Nash’s captivating debut novel, The Girl at the Bar, was released in February by Fireflies Publishing; and it has all the ingredients of a page-turner: a steamy encounter that turns into a mysterious disappearance, a cast of characters that make you both root for and loathe them, and a beloved “whodunit” narrative with a contemporary twist.

With a description like that, of course we wanted to make you guys aware of it! If you like what you see, you can order it now from Amazon.

An avid mystery reader, Nash crafted The Girl at the Bar with careful thought as to what he personally enjoys when reading a suspense novel and incorporated those elements to craft the perfect thriller. “A riveting mixture of city backdrops, mental health and questionable memory, money-hungry powerhouses, and the fascinating world of medical research. My hope is that The Girl at the Bar draws the reader in until the very last page,” Nash says.

Synopsis:
Rebecca Chase, a brilliant cancer researcher, disappears without a trace after a one-night stand with a neurotic man, Ragnar Johnson, who has a questionable past. Her sudden disappearance in the middle of a high-stakes quest to cure cancer between two billionaires sets into motion an inexplicable chain of events as the bodies start to pile up.

No one knows why Rebecca disappeared, whether she’s alive, and, if she is alive, where she might be. The race to find answers ensnares everyone around her – one of whom is a deeply disturbed psychopath lurking in the shadows.

Nash surprises at every twist and turn, ending chapters with cliffhangers that keep readers furiously turning the pages. Is Rebecca still alive? What happened to her? Who did it? Why? The trouble is that no one can be trusted, and no one is above suspicion.

Javier Botet Makes For the WORST Roommate in Two Pigeons

The world premiere of Two Pigeons is happening tomorrow night at SXSW and the first clip from the film has been released and can be seen below. Basically, it shows Hussein (Mim Shaikh) doing his normal morning ritual in the bathroom, only every action he takes is spliced with scenes of Javier Botet (Mama, It, [REC]) using those same objects, like a toothbrush or mouthwash, in other, rather disgusting ways. Billed as a dark comedy, I’ve got a feeling that Two Pigeons will echo Housebound, at least from the synopsis.

Two Pigeons was directed by Dominic Bridges and also stars Mandeep Dhillon, Kola Bokinni, and Michael McKella.

Synopsis:
What happens when someone starts sharing your space, your clothes, your food, even your toothbrush, all unbeknownst to you? Hussein, a wide-boy London Estate Agent, has a hidden houseguest who is secretly dismantling his world – from the inside…

The Blackcoat’s Daughter centers on Kat (Kiernan Shipka) and Rose (Lucy Boynton), two girls who are left alone at their prep school Bramford over winter break when their parents mysteriously fail to pick them up. While the girls experience increasingly strange and creepy occurrences at the isolated school, we cross cut to another story—that of Joan (Emma Roberts), a troubled young woman on the road, who, for unknown reasons, is determined to get to Bramford as fast as she can. She begins to veer off the road to recovery when she develops an obsession with a young woman to whom she feels an inexplicable yet profound connection. The obsession turns increasingly invasive and wedges all three women into an ever-tightening – and progressively terrifying – struggle for control. “I can safely say I am a lifetime fan of KING KONG. When I was offered the opportunity to draw the big ape on a poster for this new, badass edition, it really was a no-brainer. We really wanted to play on the majesty, the gigantic size of Kong, so after a couple of layouts, I came up with him looming, reaching over the island – a little nod to the classic image of King King looming over the NYC skyline. It helped that the movie has so much great visuals that I tried to implement in the layout.” – Francesco Francavilla

Doug Jones Was the McDonald’s Mac Tonight Guy!

0
0

Doug Jones is a man who doesn’t really need an introduction when it comes to horror fans. After all, he was Abe Sapien in Hellboy, the Faun in Pan’s Labyrinth, and he appeared in The Bye Bye Man, Crimson Peak, Absentia, Quarantine, and much more. He’s one of those guys that is often wearing a suit or some vast amount of makeup but the performances he gives makes those Hollywood creations seem all the more believable and tangible, as though fantasy CAN become reality.

It turns out that Jones’ career has a rather interesting and golden start. The actor took to his Facebook page to do a #TBT (Throwback Thursday) where he revealed that he was the man behind the Mac Tonight moon mask in the infamous series of commercials from the fast food giant McDonald’s!

Jones explained via his Facebook page:
“Yes, for those of you old enough to remember, it was right around this time in 1987 that my McDonald’s “Mac Tonight” commercials started airing. 3 years and 27 spots bought our first house, and marked me as the tall, skinny fellow who moves well and wears a lot of rubber on his head. Thank you McDonalds for starting my silly career of 30 years and counting!”

Below is one of the commercials and the photo Jones posted is below that. Who woulda thunk it, right?
