No, we're not talking about the long talked about remake of the cool monster flick The Gate. What we have here is a completely different beast. Read on for the latest creature feature getting locked and loaded.

According to Deadline, Wayfare Entertainment has acquired the rights to produce and finance a feature-length version of the short thriller The Gate from its director Matt Westrup and producer Spencer Friend. Westrup will direct the feature version, while Friend will produce with Wayfare’s Browning and Sarah Shepard. They will soon hire a screenwriter to expand the film to feature length. The Gate is a cool mutant tale that was named one of Viewfinder’s 10 best short films of 2011 and has drawn comparisons to Alive in Joburg, the short that was expanded into District 9.

“Our plan for The Gate was to always expand and build upon the world that I conceived for the 11-minute short,” Westrup said. “Wayfare Entertainment shares our vision in taking those themes and ideas and adapting them into a sci-fi thriller that is driven by a grounded, sophisticated plot and intriguing character arcs.”

Said Wayfare’s Ben Browning: “”We’re always looking for intelligent genre films filled with spectacle. The Gate is a daring and original work that is a perfect addition to our slate.”

When The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 hits theaters on November 16th, there will be a bunch of surprises and several new characters. Chief among them is Renesmee, the half-human, half-vampire baby of Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson), who is played by Mackenzie Foy, 11. “It’s a hugely important part,” says director Bill Condon, who loved watching Foy and her older costars interact. “They were amazing with her,” he says. “It really brought something paternal out in Rob, and Kristen was especially protective. Magnolia has announced that they're planning to roll the horror anthology film out on VOD August 31st with a limited theatrical run to follow beginning October 5th.

And the star power keeps amping up for director Atom Egoyan's Devil's Knot, based on the events surrounding the recently freed West Memphis Three, as both Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone, "The Wire") and Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, "True Blood") are in early talks for roles.

Per Variety these two deals are in the early stages since DeHaan is getting married this summer and his shooting dates still have to be finalized, as do Ryan's. If cast, Ryan would play private detective Ron Lax's soon-to-be ex-wife, and DeHaan would play a teen who had some history with the three murdered boys.

Colin Firth, Mireille Enos, Reese Witherspoon, Collette Wolfe, Kristopher Higgins, Alessandro Nivola, and Kris Polaha all star in the drama about the West Memphis 3 based on journalist Mara Leveritt's bestselling book of the same name.

Firth will play Ron Lax, a private investigator who was the first pro bono supporter of the defendants as they headed to trial in 1993. Lax built one of the most prominent private investigative firms in the Southeast and offered his services for free to the defendants, who at the time were reviled because of the heinous nature of the crime and the sensationalized reports about devil worship and ritualistic sacrifice. All of that was later proven to be unfounded, after the West Memphis 3 were convicted despite a total absence of physical evidence. Witherspoon is playing Pam Hobbs, the mother of Steven Branch, one of the victims. She initially believed the trio murdered her son and the other two boys but became persuaded they were wrongly accused. An upcoming documentary casts suspicion on her ex-husband Terry Hobbs (Nivola), who was Steven Branch’s stepfather and who has denied any wrongdoing.

Enos will play Vicki Hutcheson, the mother of an 8-year-old boy who lives in a run-down house in West Memphis. She becomes an important witness in the murder trial of Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley, Jr. (Higgins), for the killing of three 8-year-old boys found hog-tied in a drainage ditch. Hutcheson, it becomes apparent to investigators, could be the only link between Echols and Misskelley. Polaha will play public defender Val Price, Wolfe will serve as Lax’s assistant, Glori Shettles.

In August 2011 the defendants were released due to lack of evidence after spending 18 years in prison. Actual defendants Jessie Misskelley, Jr., and Jason Baldwin are executive producing Devil's Knot with Worldview's Molly Conners, Sarah Johnson Redlich, Maria Cestone, and Hoyt David Morgan. Producers are Elizabeth Fowler, Clark Peterson, Richard Saperstein, and Worldview CEO Christopher Woodrow.

Synopsis
Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station and, together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster), forms part of the "Big H Radio Team".

A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, "a gift from the Lords". She assumes it's a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords' record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.

Later Whitey plays the Lords' record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.

The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H Team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they're expecting: The original Lords of Salem are returning, and they're out for BLOOD.

We brought you the news a while back that Warner Brothers was moving ahead with another I Am Legend flick, but beyond that there weren't many details available. Recently the star of the first film, Will Smith, spoke to the BBC regarding if he'll be back for more.

"Producers are working on it. I’m not actually. If it’s great, I’m into it,” Smith told the BBC. “I don’t want to be the sequel guy. I figure I’ve got about six or seven more years where I can run and jump a little bit, and then I’m going butt and gut for the rest of my career. Butt and gut.”

So he doesn't wanna be a sequel guy even though Men in Black 3 is still in theatres, and he'll only do the movie if it's great? Hey, Big Will, did you even see the first I Am Legend? It was anything but great.

As suspected, NBC is planning to capitalize on its huge audience for the 2012 Summer Olympics with a sneak peek of Season 2 of "Grimm" occurring in August. Read on for when you can see that show as well as the highly anticipated "Revolution".

One day after the conclusion of the Olympics, on Monday, August 13th, NBC will debut the advance season premiere of “Grimm” (10-11 p.m. ET/PT). The series will then return to its regular Friday time slot of 9-10 p.m. ET/PT on September 14th.

“Revolution”, from director Jon Favreau (Iron Man," "Iron Man 2) and the fertile imaginations of J.J. Abrams ("Lost," "Person of Interest") and Eric Kripke ("Supernatural"), premieres on Monday, September 17th (10-11 p.m. ET/PT).

As for "Do No Harm", starring Steven Pasquale ("Rescue Me") as a respected neurosurgeon with a deep, dark secret, look for it on Sunday nights following football season. "Hannibal" will appear mid-season.

Deadline reports that producers Roy Lee and Taka Ichise are teaming on a live action feature adaptation of The Suicide Forest, the graphic novel from IDW Publishing. They’ve attached Hideo Nakata to direct. He helmed Ring, which hatched The Ring, and he directed The Ring Two, but let's forget about that last bit, shall we? I still have CGI deer running through my head.

The first in a series of four graphic novels written by El Torres with artwork by Gabriel Hernandez, the thriller revolves around Aokigahara, a vast forest outside Tokyo which is called the most famous suicide spot in the world. The legend is that spirits of past suicides roam among the trees. An American ex-pat living in Tokyo must enlist the help of a forest ranger in Aokigahara to help free him from the clutches of an evil spirit haunting him from the Suicide Forest.

More casting new is coming out of camp Carrie today as two more have joined the ever-growing roster of folks that will soon be feeling the wrath of everyone's favorite revenge seeking psychokinetic teen, Carrie White. Read on for the latest!

MGM and Screen Gems have confirmed that Portia Doubleday and Judy Greer will join the cast of Carrie. Doubleday will play Chris Hargensen with Greer as Miss Desjardin, the gym teacher. They join the previously announced Julianne Moore as Margaret White, Carrie's mom, Gabriella Wilde in the role of Sue Snell, Alex Russell, Ansel Elgort, and of course Chloe Moretz in the title role.

Look for Kim Peirce's Carrie to be in theatres on March 15, 2013.

In the story shy high school student Carrie White (Chloe Moretz) is raised by a nightmarish religious fanatic mother (Moore) and comes to grip with devastating telepathic powers just as she reaches puberty. She eventually uses those gifts for lethal means when fellow classmates use the prom as an excuse to humiliate her before the entire school in a parable about bullying.

Sissy Spacek played the character in the first movie, with Piper Laurie playing her mother, and Amy Irving, Nancy Allen, John Travolta, Betty Buckley, and William Katt rounding out the cast. Both Spacek and Laurie got Oscar nominations for their work in the 1976 film.

To celebrate Syfy’s June extravaganza of four Saturday Original Movies – Jersey Shore Shark Attack, Piranhaconda, Arachnoquake, and Bigfoot – Syfy Digital is offering fans free streaming of prior Saturday Original Movies at its new Movie Hub via Syfy Rewind.

In addition to streaming the movies, Syfy's Saturday Original Movie Hub showcases Caption This!, where fans can add their unique sense of humor as a caption to a photo from their favorite original movie, while users everywhere can join the fun by rating the captions. The mini-site also features weekly Viewer Polls (one per original movie) with a wide variety of questions pertaining to movie themes such as creatures, disasters, aliens, and zombies.

At this new destination fans can check in with the social service GetGlue and earn exclusive stickers for all new Original Movies as well as follow @SyfyMovies on Twitter and like Syfy Movies on Facebook.

This writer hit the set of director John Suits’ upcoming feature The Scribbler last week and brought back a teaser image as well as an interview with actress Ashlynn Yennie. Read on for word on her clothing-challenged character and more!

An adaptation of the 2006 Image Comics graphic novel, The Scribbler, with a screenplay by Daniel Schaffer, was being lensed at the soon-to-be renovated filming spot Linda Vista Community Hospital in downtown L.A., and upon arriving to the night shoot, I immediately encountered the properties’ bordering neighbors engaged in a display of cacophonous fireworks. Over the years this has become standard protocol for the residents of the apartment structure, who do so in order to extort money from productions leasing in the nearby Linda Vista. Their ploy worked apparently (as it has done many times before) as upon entering the hospital, producer Gabriel Cowan confirmed the production’s yield to their machinations.

Starring Katie Cassidy (“Supernatural”, A Nightmare on Elm Street), Garret Dillahunt (The Last House on the Left), Michelle Trachtenberg (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Eliza Dushku (Wrong Turn, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Gina Gershon (Killer Joe), Michael Imperioli (The Lovely Bones), Billy Campbell (“The Killing”), Sasha Grey (The Girlfriend Experience) and the previously mentioned Yennie, The Scribbler (according to the flick’s PR) concerns “Suki (Cassidy), a young woman confronting her destructive mental illness using 'The Siamese Burn', an experimental machine designed to eliminate multiple personalities. The closer Suki comes to being 'cured', the more she's haunted by a thought... what if the last unwanted identity turns out to be her?”

Shooting Day 18 of the 20-day shoot, the production was in full swing filming scenes with Cassidy, Dushku and Imperioli, and after watching the action on the monitors, I found my way with the help of unit publicist Shannon Sonnier to the room of The Scribbler to have a look at the “The Siamese Burn” contraption before sitting down with Yennie to discuss her role in the film.

“It’s been really fun,” said the actress, whose previous turns include that of the tail end of the surgically conjoined human monstrosity at the center of Tom Six’s The Human Centipede, as well as the head of the same in his ‘ATM’ sequel The Human Centipede 2. “I’ve had some really intense shooting days, but overall it’s been amazing to work with everyone here.”

Yennie, who had already wrapped The Scribbler and arrived to set that night in order to do press, engagingly revealed of her role: “I play ‘Emily,’ and all of us are kind of like in this halfway house for the mentally insane, but we are not allowed to live outside in the world yet. I play a girl who has a condition called ‘Vestiphobia’, which is the fear of being trapped in clothing. So I run around naked a lot in this movie!”

Commenting on the decayed interior of the circa 1933 structure, Yennie laughed, “Yeah, it’s great to be running around Linda Vista naked and barefoot. I was actually really scared that I was going to catch something. But they did end up putting me in a dress so I was like ‘yes,’ but my character was screaming ‘no!’ I had to do a very intense scene where I have a mental breakdown because they put clothes on me. Yes, this is real. This is my life.”

“So they put me in the dress,” continued Yennie, who earlier this year completed her role in Adam Gierasch’s upcoming feature Schism, “and then I have a mental breakdown. My character actually hates everyone else’s clothing in the movie, too, and I comment on what they are wearing. At one point I make fun of Michelle Trachtenberg’s outfit, and then she...” (Note: As this article will remain fairly spoiler-free, I’ll refrain from communicating what Yennie revealed. Let’s just say the scene will be a narrative and visual treat, more than likely).

As for how Yennie became attached to The Scribbler, she stated, “When I found out they were looking to cast the role, they had already cast the entire film so I emailed the casting director, and I was like, ‘Hey, here’s my reel, can I read the script?’ And she was like, ‘Oh my god, you need to come meet the director,’ because John knew me from The Human Centipede films, and they pretty much knew that I wasn’t afraid to be naked or whatever, but they also knew that I could kind of handle the heaviness of someone who has a condition like this because she’s really serious about it, like it’s not a laughing matter. She has a fear of clothing. I did a scene with Katie where I actually really do make fun of everything that she’s wearing, too, because I am so offended by it.”
