In just a couple of weeks Some Guy Who Kills People will be coming home to DVD, and to celebrate its eventual arrival, we have another two clips from the flick on tap for you! Check out the goods right here!

From the Press Release
Few films achieve the perfect balance of genuine sincerity, tastefully ironic humor, and the heightened level of blood and guts expected from horror movies. On July 3rd, Anchor Bay Entertainment brings you one of these rare gems with Some Guy Who Kills People. Executive produced by famed director John Landis (National Lampoon’s Animal House, An American Werewolf in London, Coming to America) and boasting impeccable performances by Kevin Corrigan (The Departed, Superbad, The Dictator), Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, TV’s “Spin City”), Karen Black (Five Easy Pieces, House of 1000 Corpses), Leo Fitzpatrick (Kids, Serendipity), Ariel Gade (AVPR: Aliens vs. Predator-Requiem, Dark Water), and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead, TV’s “The Office”), this film festival favorite is coming to DVD for an SRP of $22.98.

At first glance, Ken Boyd (Corrigan) may seem like an average comic enthusiast, living with his mother and working to make ends meet as an underpaid, underappreciated ice cream parlor attendant. But Ken has a dirty little secret: He fantasizes about killing people. After being released from a stay in the loony bin for severe mental trauma suffered when he was beaten and tortured by a gang of high school thugs, Ken’s repressed anger suddenly reaches a boiling point. He begins to hunt down his tormentors, one by one, and exacts his bloody revenge - all the while forming an unconventional bond with his estranged 11-year-old daughter (Gade). The film is written by Ryan Levin (TV’s “Scrubs,” Disney Channel’s “I’m With the Band”) and directed by Jack Perez (La Cucaracha, Wild Things 2, Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus). Critics have plenty of praise for Some Guy Who Kills People’s off-beat charm, with Bloody Disgusting calling it “funny, bloody, really sweet… a welcome breath of fresh air” and Sound on Sight noting, “About halfway through Some Guy Who Kills People, I’d laughed my throat raw.”

  • Audio commentary by director / co-producer Jack Perez and writer / producer Ryan Levin
  • “The Fifth” – short film that inspired Some Guy Who Kills People

Two more much talked about genre flicks are on their way home this July courtesy of the lovable loonies over at eOne, and we've got the scoop on each so you can plan ahead for your purchases. We're good like that.

    From the Press Release
In the year of our pending apocalypse, Entertainment One and Focus World are excited to bring to home audiences EXTRATERRESTRIAL, a sexy, darkly hilarious and apocalyptic new sci-fi comedy from Nacho Vigalondo, the acclaimed Spanish director of Timecrimes (now being remade into a major motion picture by Dreamworks).

When groggy and hung-over Julio (Julián Villagrán) wakes up in a strange apartment after a night of partying, he’s pleasantly surprised to discover it belongs to a beautiful one-night stand he can’t remember – Julia (Michelle Jenner). What’s already an awkward situation is made even more so when they discover giant flying saucers hovering above the now-deserted city. The only other person left in the building is Julia’s fawning and somewhat creepy neighbor, Ángel (Carlos Areces), who explains that there’s been an exodus from the city. When Julia’s boyfriend, Tipo (Miguel Noguera), shows up, the dynamics between the four reach heady extremes, especially as Julia and Julio -- attempting to hide their one-night stand -- convince Tipo that Ángel is an alien and must be ejected. Now, Julio must contend with a jealous ex-boyfriend, an eccentric neighbor – and very possibly the end of the world!

Look for it on July 17th!

eOne Brings Girls Gone Dead and Extraterrestrial Home This July

A hilarious throwback to the sexy 80s’ comedy/horror flicks. GIRLS GONE DEAD centers around six beautiful high school friends reuniting for spring break during their freshman year in college -- only to find a sadistic killer with a medieval war hammer has targeted them! With a cast filled with notorious celebs and personalities – such as Jerry Lawler ("WWE Raw"), Beetlejuice and Sal ‘The Stockbroker’ Governale of “The Howard Stern Show”, Ron Jeremy, Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain, scream queen Linnea Quigley and a passel of Penthouse Pets like Ryan Keely and Janessa Brazil – this soon-to-be cult classic is certain to add some sizzle to your summer!

Rebecca is set to spend her first Spring Break home from college with her old high school cheerleading friends. As luck would have it, the group of six sexy girls have been granted the usage of a rental property in the Florida coastal town of Manatee Creek. However, they are soon to find that their vacation may be anything but... Just down the road, in Daytona Beach; “Crazy Girls Unlimited” -- a company famous for its drunken topless DVD releases -- has been throwing an event for their latest video series. However, the shoot ended early when a war-hammer-wielding killer showed up to end the festivities. Unaware of what has transpired, Rebecca and her friends decide to throw a Spring Break Free-For-All, but the girls get more than they bargained for when, one by one, the party-goers begin to disappear. It seems that an uninvited stranger has been cutting the guest list – literally – and it’s everyone for themselves in this hysterical, splatter-tastic flick.

To celebrate the release of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in the UK on June 20th, Twentieth Century Fox went on the hunt for ‘fresh blood’ in the art community. They came up with a real winner, too. Check out the amazing results right here!

The online Art Competition ‘Fresh Blood Hunt’ was an opportunity for budding creative talent to design an art piece inspired by the film for the chance to win a 17” MacBook Pro and have their design painted by visionary street artist Jim Rockwell (Endoftheline) as a mural on Great Eastern Street, East London.

The competition began on Friday, 18th May, and budding artists had until 30th May to enter. After the competition closed, people had from 1st–9th June to visit the site and vote for their favourite piece of art from 12 shortlisted entries. The winning artwork was created by seventeen-year-old Emily Jane Neal from North Devon.

Emily said, “My inspiration for my piece was mainly about how Abraham Lincoln was the President of the USA. That is why I included the American flag and a well-known picture of him with his iconic hat on - so that anyone who saw my design would know that the film is about him.

Check out the mural below (click to see it larger) along with the time lapse video of its creation!

The Tim Burton-produced, Timur Bekmambetov-directed horror adventure Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter stars Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, Rufus Sewell, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jimmi Simpson, Alan Tudyk, and Robin McLeavy. Look for it in theatres this Friday, June 22nd!

San Diego Comic-Con 2012As someone who stood in line several hours last year for the "Game of Thrones" Comic-Con panel and still didn't make it inside, this latest bit of news concerning when presentations for both that show and "True Blood" will be held gives me hope that this year might be different.

Per EW, "Game of Thrones" will be presented in the king-sized Hall H for the first time, an honor that typically goes to movies and, very occasionally, giant TV shows like ABC’s "Lost" and The CW's "Supernatural". The "Thrones" panel will take place on Friday, July 13th, and the "True Blood" panel will take place on Saturday, July 14th, in Ballroom 20.

No other details have been provided such as the exact times and the participants, but considering we're less than a month away from the big show, look for that info - and lots more - soon!

Lynch is best known to fans as cult leader Harris in the 1988 film Bad Dreams, and to call his career anything but prolific is an understatement. Other memorable roles include appearances in Rob Zombie's Halloween and Zombie's forthcoming film The Lords of Salem, Laid to Rest, Invasion U.S.A., Scarecrow, The Sword and the Sorcerer as well as television roles on popular series such as "The A-Team," "Werewolf: The Series," "Six Feet Under," and "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

    Update

    From Rob Zombie's Facebook page:

Guillermo del Toro Continues to Make us Drool with Pacific Rim Talk

    0

Visionary director Guillermo del Toro recently sat down with Total Film magazine to talk about his highly anticipated next film, Pacific Rim, and once again the filmmaker has us foaming at the mouth and chomping at the bit!

Comic Book Movie did a little transcribing from the interview. Excerpts are below.

"We had a Tokyo scene that we shot here in Toronto. We had several Hong Kong scenes and a few scenes in Australia, through the television. We briefly see the kaiju take over San Francisco. The whole Pacific Rim needs a sense of danger."

"We take the battles far and above! Two or three of them happen in places where there have never been a battle between kaiju and robots. From the bottom of the ocean to the atmosphere of the Earth. We have a battle in a storm at sea. Every battle we try to do differently. One is seen from the point of view of a single person. We never cut away from that point of view."

Look for the flick in theatres July 12th of 2013. In 3D? Expect a first reveal of the film at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., and Diego Klattenhoff star.

Travis Beacham's script is set in 2025, the 12th year of a war against alien creatures who reside in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The story finds a group of humans banding together to create and pilot massive robots to fight the giant creatures threatening to destroy Earth.

    Synopsis
From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ epic sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim.

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes--a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)--who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Oscar® nominee Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) is directing Pacific Rim from a script by Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans). Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Mary Parent are producing, with Callum Greene serving as executive producer.

The film stars Charlie Hunnam (TV’s “Sons of Anarchy”), Idris Elba (Thor), Rinko Kikuchi (The Brothers Bloom), Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses), and Ron Perlman (the Hellboy films). The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke.

Imagine if you will waking up to find that the world has ended and you're all that's left to try and fix things. Sound like a daunting task? You bet it is; however, should you be a robot... well, that makes things at least a little easier, right? Wrong!

THR reports that Will Dunn is being tapped to write Rosa, 20th Century Fox’s project based on an animated short from Jesus Orellana. Orellana is on board to direct the project, which is being produced by Simon Kinberg as well as Raymond Brothers and Scott Glassgold of IAM Entertainment.

Rosa, which made waves when it played at several film festivals last year, is described as “an epic sci-fi short film that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where all natural life has disappeared. From the destruction awakes Rosa, a cyborg deployed from the Kernel project, mankind’s last attempt to restore the earth’s ecosystem. Rosa will soon learn that she is not the only entity that has awakened and must fight for her survival.

Orellana, a comic book artist, made the short from his home computer in Barcelona, with the intent of directing a full-length feature. Check out the original short below.

    Chapter 1
    Arrival

Truth be told: the place looked creepy. Sarah simply couldn’t believe that anyone she knew--let alone some-one from her very own family--could have anything to do with such a house. Never in her life had she seen such a disaster. The puke-green paint was peeling. The lawn (what there was of it) was more brown than green. The flower beds were overrun with weeds. The roof was missing so many shingles it looked like a checkerboard. The driveway was cracked. The steps were sagging. It was awful, made even worse by the fact that they would be celebrating her twelfth birthday in it. Even though they had just spent an entire week in the car, driving here from California, Sarah would have gladly turned right around and gone back home.

“This is it?” she asked, just to be sure, hoping they had somehow made a mistake, that they had turned onto the wrong street and this wasn’t really Grandma Winnie’s house at all.

In the front seat, Mom and Dad exchanged a long look and then Dad said grimly, “Afraid so.”

Sarah’s younger brother, Billy, meanwhile, was wearing a huge smile, which got even bigger when Dad confirmed that this was indeed where they would be spending the summer. “Awesome!” Billy said, with a reverence that thoroughly annoyed his sister.

“What could be awesome about this?”

“Look at it,” he said. “It’s like a haunted house.”

“Billy,” Dad said. “Don’t say that.”

    “But it is!” he insisted.

“I’m sure it’s just because Grandma wasn’t feeling well the last few years. She couldn’t keep the house up.”

“No, honey,” Mom said. “It’s always been like this. That’s why the bullies called me Creepy Carol in school. Now can you understand why I wanted to leave as soon as I could? And get as far away as possible?”

Dad tried to put his arm around Mom, but she opened the passenger door and got out of the car quickly. Dad gave Billy one last sour look and then got out with her.

“What’s wrong with them?” Billy asked.

“This is where Mom grew up,” Sarah said. “Her mom died in there. Do you think she liked hearing you say it looks haunted?”

“Oh,” Billy said, his smile suddenly evaporating into a look of timid shame. “I didn’t think of that.”

“Of course not,” Sarah snapped. “You don’t think of anyone but yourself.”

    “That’s not true.”

“Prove it,” Sarah said as she grabbed her backpack and opened her door.

The air outside the car was hot and humid. Where they were from in Southern California, it was hot, but not wet like this. Sarah felt as if her mouth were pressed against a damp towel.

Billy got out of the car behind her and went over to where their parents were standing. “Sorry, Mom,” he said. “I didn’t mean it the way it came out.”

Mom patted Billy on the head. “It’s okay,” she said with a sniffle. “I understand.” She faced the house, shielding her eyes from the sun with one hand. “In a way, I’m glad you like it. At least one of us does.”

Mom and Dad turned away and started toward the front door. Billy faced his sister and stuck his tongue out at her. She rolled her eyes and joined their parents on the steps.

Mom fished in her purse until she found a yellow envelope. After Grandma Winnie had died, Mom had gotten a whole bunch of these yellow envelopes in the mail. When Sarah had asked about them, Mom had explained that they were from lawyers telling her about things she had to do to settle Grandma’s affairs. The biggest of all these things was selling the house. That was why they were there. Mom and Dad had decided they would do what they could to fix it up before they sold it. But now that Sarah had actually seen it, she didn’t think one summer would be enough time to fix the house. Not unless they rented a bulldozer and just pushed it flat.

Mom opened the envelope and took out a key. While Dad held the squeaking screen door, she put the key in the lock, turned it, and pushed the front door open.

A gust of cool air came out of the darkness beyond and swept over all of them. To Sarah it felt like running through the sheets hanging on the laundry line in their backyard at home. In fact, it felt so much like something--or someone--pushing past her that Sarah gasped a little and stepped back. Was Billy right? Was Grandma’s house haunted?

Mom and Dad looked at each other again and Sarah could tell they had felt it, too. Mom just stood there, as if she were frozen in place.

“Honey?” Dad said. “Are you okay?”

Mom nodded slowly, then turned around. “Sarah?” she said. “You want to go first?”

Sarah shook her head quickly. The cool air wasn’t the only thing spooking her. Maybe it was because the June sun was so bright, but the darkness beyond the open front door looked as thick as a pool of swirling oil.

“I will!” Billy shouted, and pushed his way past Sarah and up the steps.

Dad couldn’t help but laugh as Billy went in. Sarah didn’t think it was funny at all. Instead, she was seized with the desire to grab her brother by the shoulder and pull him back. She was afraid that once he touched the darkness, it would suck him in like a whirlpool. She had to stop him.

But it was too late. He was gone.

When Lollipop Chainsaw (review here) released on June 12th, I knew this game was going to be special. It is one of those titles that is just so outrageously over-the-top that you can't help but want to play it.

That's Life: Growing Up Digital tries to understand the complexities of Lollipop Chainsaw and finds that decapitation by chainsaw can be entertaining at any age!

Gaming is sometimes in your blood, and that is proven in the first episode of That’s Life: Growing Up Digital. The video takes you inside gaming with the founders of BioGamer Girl Magazine (BGG), Amanda Dyar and Alissa Worley. The BGG duo discuss life and video games with their first look at the outrageous title Lollipop Chainsaw. The show quickly unravels as Alissa’s interest dwindles and she soon starts divulging her mom’s dark secrets. We learn that games can be fun for gamers of any age since there are always elements to love, and in this case Alissa reveals her favorite part of Lollipop Chainsaw was Juliet’s decapitation of her boyfriend. Wowzers?! I suppose that may be something to reveal to Alissa’s future boyfriends.

Lollipop Chainsaw released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 12, 2012.

A Look at All 12 Covers for The Walking Dead Issue 100On July 11th the 100th issue of Robert Kirkman's zombie opus The Walking Dead is being released, and finally all 12 covers have been revealed. One is going to be pretty hard to get ahold of, however; read on for the details.

In the below gallery you'll find a look at the covers, 11 of them courtesy of TFAW (click the link for pre-order info). As for that elusive 12th cover (the final picture you'll see in the gallery), EW provided the following details: The twelfth variant cover will only be available to fans who buy tickets for the zombie-filled The Walking Dead Escape obstacle course event, which is taking place at San Diego’s Petco Park on the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of Comic-Con weekend. The good news is that Kirkman’s Skybound imprint is giving away the comic for free to “Survivors,” “Walkers,” and spectators. The artist responsible for the image is Matthew Roberts.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Matt Roberts since the very earliest days of my career,” Kirkman said in a statement. “I couldn’t be more thrilled that he’s coming back to comics to work with Skybound, and I can’t think of a better way of reintroducing him to the world of comics than with this cover, commemorating The Walking Dead Escape and our monumental Issue #100.”

Also note that the first photo is the SDCC 2012 Retailer Exclusive Edition with a date of July 25th.

    About The Walking Dead
An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple of months ago he was a small-town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.

The Secret World is the perfect game for any horror fan, and after participating in one of its Beta Weekends, I can enthusiastically tell you that the game is kick-ass! The next Beta Weekend will run from June 22nd-24th. One final chance to get a glimpse into the darkness that is The Secret World!

    From the Press Release
‘The Secret World’, the highly anticipated modern-day massively multiplayer online game of myths, legends and conspiracies, draws ever closer to its July 3rd release date. In preparation for launch, Funcom is excited to announce that the fourth and final Beta Weekend – titled ‘The Battle Begins’ – will be made open to all of the more than 1.3 million gamers who have signed up to beta test ‘The Secret World’. Guaranteed access to the final Beta Weekend will also be given to everyone registering via the game’s official website by June 22nd (use the beta sign-up form on the right).

‘The Secret World Beta Weekend #4: The Battle Begins’ starts at 9am PDT on June 22nd and runs for almost three entire days until 11.59pm PDT on June 24th. During that time players will be able to experience all the content that has been included in the three previous Beta Weekends, such as all three secret society starter experiences, the town of Kingsmouth, the Savage Coast and the Polaris and Hell Raised dungeons. Brand new this weekend is the inclusion of player vs. player gameplay, where the secret societies must duke it out in legendary locations such as Stonehenge and Eldorado. Participants will also get to experience the persistent player vs. player war zone of Fusang Projects, where over two hundred players clash together in a massive struggle for server-wide power. The outcome of these battles affects all players belonging to the victorious secret society, across the server.

The previous Beta Weekend – titled ‘Hell Raised’ – ran from June 15th to June 17th and saw the highest number of players yet participating and is undoubtedly the most successful event yet.

“The game is definitely living up to our expectations, and it appears this is a sentiment we share with our testers as well,” says Funcom SVP of Sales & Marketing Morten Larssen. “The playtime per participant during the last Beta Weekend was very impressive, shattering all records from previous Beta Weekends or even beta events from our previous games. This is a strong indication of the engagement and depth of the gameplay experience. Beta surveys have shown that four out of five players will recommend the game to their friends, something we find remarkably positive and a true testament to the quality of the game and the amazing work the team has done.”

‘The Secret World’ is consistently mentioned as one the most highly anticipated MMOs in development. The highly engaged and active community surrounding the game continues to grow quickly, and hundreds of thousands of community members have already sworn allegiance to their secret society through online initiation tests as well as ‘The Secret War’ Facebook-powered pre-launch social experience that saw over 250.000 participants actively engage in the conflict for their secret society.

The Secret World will be available for PC on July 3, 2012.
