First Casting News Found Under the DomeThe first actor to slide Under the Dome for Stephen King and CBS has been announced, and fans of the TV series "Supernatural" should be pretty delighted! Colin Ford, who played the young Sam Winchester, has signed on for active duty!

According to Deadline Ford (pictured right) will play Joe, a teenager living in Chester’s Mill, a very smart kid who’s understandably freaked out when he discovers that the mysterious barrier covers the whole town — and both his parents are outside of it.

The 13-episode show, which will premiere June 24th, begins shooting in February in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Synopsis:
UNDER THE DOME is the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town’s inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from, and if and when it will go away.

"UNDER THE DOME" is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Amblin Television. Neal Baer, Stephen King, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, and Brian K. Vaughan, who wrote the television adaptation, will serve as executive producers. Acclaimed director Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will direct the first episode.

During last summer's Fantasia Film Fest, BlancBiehn Productions announced its plans for an English-language remake of Patrick Valladares’ En Las Afueras de la Ciudad (Hidden in the Woods), and now things are heating up with casting news and commencement of pre-production.

From the Press Release:
BlancBiehn Productions is announcing official prep of the U.S. remake of Patricio's Valladares HIDDEN IN THE WOODS (aka EN LAS AFUERAS DE LA CIUDAD). The young Chilean filmmaker is back in the director's seat with a screenplay by Kevin and Bradley Marcus, the writers of Mike
Mitchell's upcoming ONCE UPON A TIME.

HIDDEN IN THE WOODS is a powerful tale of urban violence and "closely faithful to the atmospheres of the original", in the words of actor/producer Michael Biehn. Meant to go in front of cameras in late spring, HIDDEN IN THE WOODS has been acquired to be handled internationally and launched in Cannes by Dimitri Stephanides of WTF, the Paris-based sales company who also represents Michael Biehn's and Jennifer Blanc's previous film, THE VICTIM. Shot in Texas on an unannounced budget, Valladares' HIDDEN IN THE WOODS promises to be one of the most exciting thrillers to look out for in 2014.

The film stars Michael Biehn (TERMINATOR, THE DIVIDE, THE VICTIM), Electra Avellan (MACHETE KILLS and GRINDHOUSE), Mark Burnham (WRONG COPS) and Jennifer Blanc-Biehn (THE VICTIM, DARK ANGEL and the upcoming TREACHERY), with casting director Andy Henry in charge of talent.

BlancBiehn co-produces Hidden with Loris Curci (of Darren Lynn Bousman's 11 11 11) and Evelyn Belmar (EN LAS AFUERAS DE LA CIUDAD) and aims at launching the film at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Fox Goes Viral with a New Campaign for The Following

No doubt figuring we've seen just about enough regular promos for "The Following" by now, Fox has launched the IamforeverNEVERMORE YouTube channel with viral videos from fake news show "Scene of the Crime" featuring "Joe Carroll and the Winslow Murders" along with a few other creepy videos involving a man in a Poe mask.

"The Following" will premiere on Monday, January 21st, at 9/8c.

    Synopsis:
THE FBI estimates there are currently over 300 active serial killers in the United States. What would happen if these killers had a way of communicating and connecting with each other? What if they were able to work together and form alliances across the country? What if one brilliant psychotic serial killer was able to bring them all together and activate a following? Welcome to THE FOLLOWING, the terrifying new thriller from creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dawson’s Creek,” the Scream franchise) and director Marcos Siega (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dexter”).

When notorious serial killer JOE CARROLL (James Purefoy, “Rome”) escapes from death row and embarks on a new killing spree, the FBI calls former agent RYAN HARDY (Emmy-nominated actor Kevin Bacon, X-Men: First Class) to consult on the case. Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture nine years ago, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature. Hardy is a walking textbook of all-things Carroll. He knows him better than anyone; he is perhaps Carroll’s only psychological and intellectual match. But the Ryan Hardy who broke the Carroll case years ago isn’t the same man today. Wounded both physically and mentally by his previous pursuit of this serial killer, it’s been a long time since Hardy has been in the field. This investigation is his redemption, his call to action. In contrast to nine years ago, Hardy isn’t calling the shots on this case. He works closely with an FBI team, which includes young, razor-sharp MIKE WESTON (Shawn Ashmore, X-Men).

The team considers Hardy to be more of a liability than an asset. But Hardy proves his worth when he uncovers that Carroll was covertly communicating with a network of killers in the outside world. It quickly becomes obvious that he has more planned than just a prison escape, and there’s no telling how many additional killers are out there. The FBI’s investigation leads Hardy to CLAIRE MATTHEWS (Natalie Zea, “Justified”), Carroll’s ex-wife and mother of the criminal’s 10-year-old son, JOEY (newcomer Kyle Catlett). Close during Hardy’s initial investigation, Hardy turns to Claire for insight into Carroll’s next move. The tension rises when Carroll’s accomplices kidnap his intended last victim from nine years ago. Hardy becomes ever more determined to end Carroll’s game when he realizes that this psychopath intends to finish what he started. The thriller will follow Hardy and the FBI as they are challenged with the ever-growing web of murder around them, masterminded by the devious Carroll, who dreams of writing a novel with Hardy as his protagonist. The reinvigorated Hardy will get a second chance to capture Carroll, as he’s faced with not one but a cult of serial killers.

The Call Set Visit Report - Part Two: Star Michael Eklund Talks Playing Evil and Lots More

Michael Eklund Next to Become Part of The HiveAs promised yesterday, we're back with Part Two of our report from our Westlake, CA, set visit for The Call. Up next is film star Michael Eklund, who dished on the suspense thriller, his approach to playing the film’s antagonist, and more. Read on!

Scheduled to be released on March 15, 2013, The Call’s narrative revolves around veteran 911 operator ‘Jordan’ (actress Halle Berry), who takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) who has just been abducted, and realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life. Actor Eklund plays that killer in the film directed by Brad Anderson (Session 9) from a script by Richard D’Ovidio.

Related Story:The Call Set Visit Report - Part One: Writer Richard D'Ovidio on His Inspiration, Research, and More!

Sitting down with Eklund (known to horror audiences primarily for his role as ‘Bobby’ in Xavier Gens’ 2011 feature The Divide, although his film credits are extensive), , the actor proved to be entirely thoughtful, well-spoken and generous.

“I play ‘Michael Foster’, who is a very troubled, tormented soul, I guess you could say,” offered Eklund of his role in The Call. “He’s basically the monster of the film, though I don’t like to consider him the monster because [given] the conversation that I had with Brad Anderson before the film, it was really important for us to portray the serial killer of the film as just your average guy, an ordinary ‘Joe,’ and possibly the guy who might live next door to you. In most movies they portray them as monsters and freaks, and in reality, most of these guys are people you might bump into at the grocery store, and you would have no idea, and that’s what we are trying to get across.”

As for his preparation, the Canadian-born actor stated, “I based the character on two actual serial killers, Richard Cunningham and Andrei Chikatilo, who were very interesting guys themselves. The common denominator between both of them and my character is that they were family men who had wives and kids and a life outside of what they were doing, and that’s what we are trying to do with this film, to present a guy that you may identify with, too. He’s not rooted in viciousness, but more a self-loathing out of what he feels he has to do because it is an addiction and a sickness.”

“The actual vicious acts themselves they perpetrated are actually very similar to what ‘Michael Foster’ does [in The Call],” continued Eklund of the scripted mayhem. “There’s a lot of vicious mutilations, directed at the object of his sexual desires, which in this film we don’t get into it much, but he has a past with his sister, and he’s a guy who has the emotional level of an eleven-year-old in some ways, and he has a hard time making the transition into adulthood. He puts on the act at home, but outside of that, his mindset is that of an eleven-year-old boy whose sister died at an early age, and that’s the haunted demon from his past.”

Was his character abused in his formative years, we asked?

“We don’t get into it much in the film,” answered Eklund, “although I have a whole back-story I created myself for the character, and that’s the best thing. I don’t really talk about it much, even with Brad, because these guys in real life, their motives are only known to themselves, and most of the time they even don’t know why they do what they do.”

We questioned him regarding the mental preparation needed for slipping on such dark cinematic shoes.

“It’s interesting; every movie is different,” he mused. “For myself, I kind of use ‘The Method’ technique. You [can] use a lot of substitution from your real life, [and] for me there’s a lot of personal stuff. Obviously for me not the stuff with ‘Michael Foster’ and his abused past and the addiction that he has, but I wanted to make the choice to not approach the character as ‘evil’ or ‘bad’ because then you are off in the wrong direction. These guys don’t believe that they are bad guys, and they believe that they are doing the right thing, so I’m approaching it more from a ‘love story’ point of view.”

“He has a sister that he misses very much, and there is sadness within the character, so I used that very much, and then the script tells the [rest of the] story,” he continued. “What attracted me so much to the script was that it did approach the character as an ordinary guy, and a father and husband, yet obviously someone who is very sick and battles with his own addictions and with what he feels he has to do. These characters are rooted in their own fantasies, and then they take them out into the real world, and most of the time the murders they commit don’t live up to the fantasy that they’ve created in their own minds, which makes them come up with crazier fantasies. They are always trying to look for the next ‘hit.’ But to answer your question, I try to take moments to get away from everyone [on set] and to get to those dark places that we all have inside ourselves.”

There was a certain haunted look in Eklund’s eyes, and an aura of fatigue, as he spoke of his role.

Commenting on it, Eklund replied, “It has been exhausting from an emotionally creative place, which I thrive on. If I don’t leave set every day feeling emotionally wiped out and exhausted, then I feel like I really didn’t do my job. But I’ve been exhausted in this film, which makes me happy at the same time. The whole movie is also in ‘real time,’ in that it takes place over the course of twenty-four hours, so I’ve been playing around with a lot of that as well within myself, meaning not sleeping. There’s a transition with the character from beginning to end so as we’ve been shooting, I’ve been adapting that into the character with [my own] lack of sleep.”

As for his interaction with actress Breslin, who portrays his victim in The Call, “It’s tricky,” stated the actor. “In the beginning you have to suss out the other cast. It is ‘make believe’, and we are acting, and the set of The Call is very controlled and safe, although some of the scenes we have been doing have been very intense. Once I met Abigail, I knew that she was going to be game for anything. She’s one of those actresses that will give as much as she takes. I give a lot, and vice versa. In the beginning you aren’t sure how far to push things, but after I met her, I knew I could push her as far as I needed, and that she could do the same with me. When you find that kind of relationship with your cast-mate, then anything can happen, and I think that’s what has happened on this set. Things are clicking very well, and there is a feeling amongst the cast and crew that we are doing something very special.”

Regarding his working relationship with director Anderson, Eklund concluded, “I’ve worked with Brad before in the past, and I knew with this film what he was asking [of me], and I was going to give him everything. If he asks for it, then you give it, and you recover later. It’s always a battle, adapting back into your real life after a shoot like this, although there are moments of levity. The cast and crew are like a family on this film, which is a rarity, so we create our own levity. We cheer each other on.”

Up next we'll hear from The Call’s David Otunga. Our thanks again to unit publicist Tiaka Hurst.

Exclusive: Michael Moorcock Talks New Novel The Warlord of the Air

    $
    0
    0

The Warlord of the Air by Michael Moorcock is now available from most major retailers for the MSRP of $9.95. We recently spoke with the author to get more details regarding the series that all science fiction fans will want to check out. Read on to learn more!

AMANDA DYAR:The Warlord of the Air wowed science fiction fans when it was originally published over 40 years ago. Why is the book finally making a comeback after so many years, and what qualities does the book and series contain that will continue to resonate with fans of the genre so many years after it was first released?

MICHAEL MOORCOCK: I think it's the steampunk phenomenon that's revived interest. The book was always one of my most popular and I had several film offers as well as influencing quite a lot of other books and movies. It gets mentioned a lot in features and books about steampunk. In some ways the story, which examines the idea of 'benign imperialism', is very relevant to the present day with the wars in the Middle East and elsewhere getting so much of our attention.

AMANDA:A Nomad of the Time Streams series stars the classic character Oswald Bastable as its main protagonist throughout the trilogy. Where did the original concept for your main character originate, and what allows him to be so recognizable and easy to relate with?

MICHAEL:I got the idea for the books from reading Fabians -- a socialist intellectual society very influential in the 20th century. Both H.G. Wells and E. Nesbit were members. Like many left-wing intellectuals of their day, they thought imperialism could be benign, especially the British Empire. I wanted to show how imperialism was never benign. When we first encounter it in the book, it seems pretty cool, but gradually Bastable discovers otherwise. It proves to be pretty unpleasant. I also wanted to take a look at American imperialism, which in the 60s and 70s had begun to be identified as such. Oswald Bastable was Nesbit's popular character from Nesbit's children's books like The Treasure Seekers. She was a huge influence on C.S. Lewis's 'Narnia' series.

Exclusive: Michael Moorcock Talks New Novel The Warlord of the Air

AMANDA: Bastable is sent to many alternate time lines throughout his journey in the A Nomad of the Time Streams trilogy. What was the process like to create one of these intricate worlds, and in what ways does our current world compare to those that you have created in your books?

MICHAEL:Really those worlds ARE our worlds with just a few changes. I don't want to give away major plot points, but they're saying that even if certain things like the Russian Revolution or the Nazis hadn't happened, our actions could still create the same major catastrophes because we allow the worst aspects of 'human nature' to control our decisions.

AMANDA: There are many important themes and political topics incorporated into your novels that are not always so easy to recognize at first glance. What is the ultimate takeaway you hope fans receive from reading The Warlord of the Air and the rest of the trilogy? Also, which of your other works should fans check out if they enjoy the Nomad series?

MICHAEL:All my books are connected, of course, but the Bastable books, with their focus on modern politics, probably have most in common with my Jerry Cornelius stories (such as The Final Programme) and my Colonel Pyat sequence beginning with Byzantium Endures. Bastable offers a sort of argument with the likes of H.G. Wells. Bastable also turns up in the last Elric series, which began with The Dreamthief's Daughter (aka Daughter of Dreams). I hope the Bastable trilogy shows readers that events and historical differences don't make much difference to our lives unless we examine our actions more carefully and try not to repeat (as we did in the invasion of Iraq for instance) the mistakes of the past. I can't say too much more without introducing a few spoilers!

The Warlord of the Air released today, January 15, 2013; make sure to check out the official Titan Books website for more info.

    Synopsis:
It is 1973, and the stately airships of the Great Powers hold benign sway over a peaceful world. The balance of power is maintained by the British Empire - a most equitable and just Empire, ruled by the beloved King Edward VIII. A new world order, with peace and prosperity for all under the law. Yet, moved by the politics of envy and perverse utopianism, not all of the Empire's citizens support the marvelous equilibrium.

Flung from the North East Frontier of 1902 into this world of the future, Captain Oswald Bastable is forced to question his most cherished ideals, discovering to his horror that he has become a nomad of the time streams, eternally doomed to travel the wayward currents of a chaotic multiverse.

The first in the Nomad of the Time Streams trilogy, The Warlord of the Air sees Bastable fall in with the anarchists of this imperial society and set in train a course of events more devastating than he could ever have imagined.

New Dario Argento Book Takes an Analytical Look at the Master

New Dario Argento Book Takes an Analytical Look at the MasterAnyone who reads this site is familiar with my love of Dario Argento - even some of his later stuff. So I'm very much looking forward to another thoughtful dissection of his work. So much has already been written on the subject, but I feel like there's plenty more to talk about.

That's why we at Dread Central are eagerly anticipating L. Andrew Cooper's simply titled Dario Argento (Contemporary Film Directors) from University of Illinois Press.

    From the Press Release
Commanding a cult following among horror fans, Italian film director Dario Argento is best known for his work in two closely related genres, the crime thriller and supernatural horror. In his four decades of filmmaking, Argento has displayed a commitment to innovation, from his directorial debut with 1970’s suspense thriller The Bird with the Crystal Plumage to 2009’s Giallo. His films, like the lurid yellow-covered murder-mystery novels they are inspired by, follow the suspense tradition of hard-boiled American detective fiction while incorporating baroque scenes of violence and excess.

    L. Andrew Cooper uses controversies and theories about the films’ reflections on sadism, gender, sexuality, psychoanalysis, aestheticism, and genre to declare the anti-rational logic of Argento’s oeuvre. Approaching the films as rhetorical statements made through extremes of sound and vision, Cooper places Argento in a tradition of aestheticized horror that includes De Sade, De Quincey, Poe, and Hitchcock. He reveals how the director’s stylistic excesses, often condemned for glorifying misogyny and other forms of violence, offer productive resistance to the cinema’s visual, narrative, and political norms.

    L. Andrew Cooper is an assistant professor of film and digital media at the University of Louisville and the author of Gothic Realities: The Impact of Horror Fiction on Modern Culture.

New Cast Photo for The Following; Go Behind the Scenes of the Photo Shoot

A casting change was made in "The Following" after the pilot was filmed with Jeananne Goossen out as Jennifer Mason and Annie Parisse in as Debra Parker so a new publicity photo was released, and we have a look at it along with a behind-the-scenes video of the photo shoot itself.

"The Following" premieres on Fox this Monday, January 21st, at 9/8c.

    Fox TV's The Following

Resolution Cast and Crew Talk the Film's Genesis, Magical Collaborations, Alternate Endings, and More

    $
    0
    0

If there was one indie horror thriller that had the festival circuit buzzing last year, it would have to be Resolution, and we recently had the opportunity to chat with co-directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as well as producer David Lawson and stars Peter Cilella and Vinny Curran.

In Resolution (review here) Michael (Cilella) is committed to getting his best friend Chris (Curran) to sober up and get his life back on track. But what begins as an attempt to save his friend’s life quickly takes an unexpected turn as the two friends confront personal demons, the consequences of past actions, and forces beyond their control.

The film is an ably conceptualized mix of horror and comedy that has many hopeful horror fans anxiously waiting to catch its VOD release on January 23rd from Tribeca Film and in select theaters beginning January 25th. Just like the film itself, our interview was not by any means conventional, but it was full of inside jokes, laughs and, more importantly, many passionate discussions about the genre. The cast and crew also address their experiences on set and the comparisons to similar 'cabin in the woods' thrillers, and they even provide some answers to a few of many questions viewers will have after the end credits roll.

When asked how the film came to be, it was obvious how ambitious the filmmakers were about it and how they were determined to do something that hasn't been seen before. Writer/director Justin Benson took the time to reveal why he made the risky decision of making his first full-length feature a slow-burning thriller rather than taking the obvious route of delivering a low-budget slasher instead.

"I did set out to write a script that I thought would be scary, and I think that stories are far scarier when you really care about the characters because you really want them to make it through the film. If you can make the relationships feel natural and if you’re bringing something new to the relationship dynamic in a story, I knew that would work way better than using stock characters that get killed off after two minutes," Benson stated.

Having all worked together on a low-budget beer commercial before Resolution, the filmmakers also addressed why they decided to co-direct the feature.

"Yeah, it's really not quantifiable. We're not identical people but we share tastes and that really helps a lot, and we both have definitely benefited from working side by side,"Moorhead stated.

"When Aaron [Moorhead] and I work together, it's like magic. It just works. I couldn't exactly tell you why. It took six months to write the script, then Aaron and I went off to film the stories-within-the stories over a couple of months on weekends, and principal photography took seventeen days. We also had three months rehearsal with the actors,"Benson explained.

Their hard work most definitely paid off as viewers at film circuits from around the world have been reacting to the innovative scare tactics displayed in the film, and the directors take much pride in this achievement.

"We've had a lot of fun touring this film, especially in Canada. Toronto has really cool fans. A lot of people were scared at the Toronto After Dark screening. Also, we saw this still shot of this girl from one of our screenings that basically looked like a Paranormal Activity ad from Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal. Also, there a was girl that came out of the theatre literally shaking in Paris,"Moorhead stated.

Considering the fact the thriller relies heavily on the stand-out performances of lead actors Peter Cilella and Vinny Curran as the unlucky and relatable protagonists for the entirety of the film, we asked the actors about what they had thought of the script and how they were able to play off each other as well as they did.

"I loved the script, and I think I read a pretty early draft because we were talking about it because as Justin was writing and raising money, he was telling me that he wanted to do a feature with Vinny [Curran] and I after we all did a beer commercial together. I definitely had questions, especially with the early drafts because the film and most importantly the ending do pose a lot of questions. Although I knew immediately that after reading it, I was a 100 percent on board," Cilella shared.

"It’s hard to say because I was so on board before I read it. [laughs] The first couple of times I read the script, I was in bed with my girlfriend Leslie and I would make her read Pete’s [Cilella] lines, and we both thought it was so great. It was a different approach for me because it was such a great opportunity that I haven’t had before. I just couldn’t believe that they let me do this!"Curran exclaimed.

The crew also had nothing but good things to say about Resolution's stars:

"The performances from Vinny and Peter complement each other, and I think that is one thing audiences and reviewers can also agree on,"Benson said.

"You don't get those type of performances in horror films because people generally don't care. The people who make those films don't spend enough time to develop the characters. It's all 'let's get to the blood and boobs!' And we don't have any of those--not that there's anything wrong with that. It just wasn't this movie. [laughs]," Lawson admitted.

One of the many reasons why Resolution has been so talked about in the past year between audience members and film critics is that remarkably almost everybody has a different theory about the film and what themes the film is trying to convey.

We decided to inquire about the underlining theme of addiction that is throughout the film and if it is meant to take aim at the viewers' addiction of watching horror films as well. The filmmakers and cast candidly admitted what the intentions and the true themes of the film are.

"No, addiction really wasn't the main focus of the film. In fact, the whole drug addiction thing was entirely a plot device to structure the movie and the character of Chris [played by Vinny Curran] as an unreliable narrator. The mystery at hand in the movie really involves Chris. All of those sketches behind him during the movie were drawings he did when he was in an altered state, so he has had glimpses of what the mystery really is, even if he can’t remember all of it. However, because he is a drug addict, he is an unreliable person on anything and that is why I made his character that way. But I will say that with the central mystery of the movie, there is a very strong relationship to the audience. Because that ‘central mystery’ is doing a lot of the things that an audience would do,"Benson admitted.

"For me, at least when I read it, it was about control. There are different levels of control in your life. Some people try to control themselves and they try to control others. They’re controlled by substances, and the central mystery at the end is so manipulating and controlling. I felt like it was such a strong theme everyone could relate to because we all deal with control in so many ways whether your life is spinning out of control or you’re trying to control it too much. I don’t think I’m like Michael, but there are definitely parts of Michael in me,"Cilella stated.

"I agree with Pete. The fact that drugs controlled my character allowed me so much freedom. I was able to deliver my lines any way that came out of me. I didn’t have to validate anything I had to say or any approach I took to say a line. It was very liberating as an actor," Curran said.

*NOTE: The cast and crew went on and revealed more about the mystery and twist ending at hand; however, we promised to keep it off the record to prevent any unnecessary spoilers that would ruin specific plot points. (Trust us; you will thank us for not posting it after watching the film.)

Resolution has been compared to the recent sleeper hit The Cabin in the Woods. We asked the filmmakers what they thought of the similarities and inevitable comparisons to their feature.

"I understand why people are comparing them. There are a lot of things in Resolution that involve indie horror tropes as misdirection and red herrings. In a way, we’re kind of deconstructing indie thrillers. 'Cabin in the Woods' is more about deconstructing mainstream horror films. The cool thing is that when people compare them, they acknowledge that they are very different movies. Although, not to be biased, Vinny and Pete's performances in [Resolution] are better than any of the performances in [CITW],"Benson said.

Fans of the film will also be pleased that there is more to look forward to for the DVD release:

"We have a few extended scenes and even an alternate ending. We have extended cuts in the DVD. Our alternate ending completely destroys our movie. [laughs] However, it should be stated explicitly though that our alternate ending is entirely a joke. It takes place six months later," Benson revealed.

Lastly, those wondering if this indie horror dream team will collaborate again will be happy to know about the crew's upcoming projects.

"Aaron and I have three projects we’re currently working on, and they’re all similar to Resolution. They all have some high-concept genre element you haven’t seen before. We’re making new monsters. We’re not telling stories with zombies or vampires. Also, like Resolution, they all feature a lot of dark humor, and one of the upcoming projects was specifically written for Vinny and Pete. So, we’re really hoping that one goes through first,"shared Benson.

Thanks to the cast and crew of Resolution for taking the time to chat with us, and I encourage all of our readers to catch this film as soon as you can!

Vendome Pictures Goes Crazy for Ray Wright's Spec Script The WidowSome preliminary news on a project that may or may not end up being Dread-worthy, Ray Wright's thriller The Widow, has come in; but since Wright previously wrote/co-wrote The Crazies, Case 39, and Pulse, we figured there'll likely be some horror here.

Variety reports that Vendome Pictures has acquiring The Widow as spec script written by Ray Wright. Vendome CEO Philippe Rousselet will produce along with Steve Golin and Alix Madigan of Anonymous Content. Vendome will also finance, and Vendome's Guy Stodel and Sarah Schweitzman will oversee the project on behalf of Vendome.

Producers are seeking a director with plans to commence production this year.

The Widow follows a young woman who befriends a lonely widow, only to discover that their encounter was not a coincidence.

Emma Stone Eying the Chance to Scale del Toro's Crimson Peak

Emma Stone Eying the Chance to Scale del Toro's Crimson PeakSince 2009's Zombieland, we've been hoping Emma Stone would return to the horror genre, and if her negotiations with Legendary Pictures for Guillermo del Toro's haunted house chiller Crimson Peak prove fruitful, we'll get our wish. It just might take a while.

Per Variety, the film won't begin shooting until February, 2014, but with del Toro directing, we figure it'll be worth the wait. Plot details are being kept under wraps as del Toro and Lucinda Coxon rewrite the original script penned by del Toro and Matthew Robbins. Del Toro previously described the film as “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love and at the same time subvert the old rules.

Legendary will produce and be a participating financing partner on the movie, with Universal Pictures retaining an option to finance at a later date.

    Look for more hopefully soon!
