Former WWE Star John Morrison and American Horror Story Star Azura Skye Enter The Factory

Former WWE Star John Morrison and American Horror Story Star Azura Skye Enter The FactoryNo, we're not talking about the recently released John Cusack flick of the same name, though it couldn't possibly be worse, that's for sure. On tap for you cats right now is the first word on the latest spooker coming our way called The Factory.

From the Press Release
Rumpus Room Productions begins lensing on The Factory, the Golan Ramras (Snuff) script, with story by Isak Borg and Dena Hysell, in New York starting April 2, 2013.

Starring Azura Skye (Bandits), Bill Sage (Mysterious Skin), and John Hennigan (pictured; John Morrison/Johnny Nitro – WWE), The Factory will be directed by Dena Hysell (The Paladins) and produced by Hysell and Sirad Balducci (Gun Hill Road).

The Factory, inspired by true events, chronicles a group of people considering buying an old factory who get trapped inside trying to escape the demons from the factory's past.

“How is it possible that a century ago we figured out how to stop these tragedies here; yet, for all our talk of globalization, they continue in other countries? Now wrap that question up in a good ghost story, and we have a movie that we can’t wait to bring to audiences,” states director/producer Hysell.

The Factory script was inspired by the horrible garment factory fires that are continuing to happen across the globe in Bangladesh and Pakistan, where hundreds of people are dying needlessly. Over a hundred years ago in the USA, these same sorts of fires and deaths were happening, which drove laws to change so it would no longer occur.

4 New Images From Scary Movie 5 Equal Not 1 LaughTo this very day it puzzles me that we don't have a Halloween 3 or a My Bloody Valentine 2; yet, Scary Movie 5 is riding high with Dimension. The series hasn't even been almost funny since its second entry. Yep, just one more step closer to Idiocracy, I tell ya!

Malcolm Lee directed Scary Movie 5 from a script penned by David Zucker. It stars Ashley Tisdale, Erica Ash, Heather Locklear, Terry Crews, Jerry O'Connell, Kate Walsh, and Jasmine Guy. The plot involves three dancers — one veteran performer and two upstarts who are also best friends — who vie for the lead in a new production from a snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed director. It spoofs Black Swan, Paranormal Activity, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, 127 Hours, and lots more.

Look for it in theatres on April 12th.

Check out the official Scary Movie 5 website here!

Caesar Finds a Mate in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Caesar Finds a Mate in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Judy GreerMore casting news has come in for Fox's sequel to their surprise hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes, entitled Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, as yet another actor has signed on to don the motion capture dots!

Vulture reports that Judy Greer (pictured) will slip on the mo-cap suit to play the female chimp Cornelia. "For so long I haven't been able to say anything about it so this is exciting," Greer tells the site. Cornelia was briefly introduced in the first film (where she was played by dancer Devyn Dalton) as a potential love interest to Andy Serkis' lead ape Caesar, but the role will be expanded in the Matt Reeves–directed sequel. "It's a very different kind of work than I'm used to," admitted Greer. "I'm not going to be wearing Manolo Blahniks in this one."

The flick also stars Andy Serkis, Keri Russell, Kodi-Smit McPhee, William Clarke, and Gary Oldman. Fox’s upcoming sequel is set 15 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The plot is for the most part under wraps, but we do know two aspects of it... One focus is on the group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco. Another aspect of the story is the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar, played by Serkis, to maintain dominance over his kingdom.

Matt Reeves, stepping into the shoes originally worn by Rupert Wyatt, is directing the sequel to Fox’s 2011 hit. Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, who penned the first installment, wrote the initial draft for Dawn. Scott Burns had written a draft for Wyatt, but when Reeves came on board, the studio and producers wanted something tailored specifically for him and hired Mark Bomback to do a rewrite. It should also be noted that Bomback did some uncredited script doctoring on Rise. Peter Chernin is back as producer.

Fox has set a May 23, 2014, release date.

Look for more as it comes.

Room 237 Pure Gibberish?

Room 237 Pure Gibberish? So, ever wonder what someone who worked on The Shining, say Stanley Kubrick's personal assistant Leon Vitali for instance, thinks of Rodney Ascher’s conspiracy theory-laden Shining documentary Room 237? Well then, read on!

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Vitali says, “I was falling about laughing most of the time. There are ideas espoused in the movie that I know to be total balderdash.”

Vitali goes on to explain that he never spoke with Kubrick about any larger meaning in The Shining: “He didn’t tell an audience what to think or how to think, and if everyone came out thinking something differently, that was fine with him. That said, I’m certain that he wouldn’t have wanted to listen to about 70, or maybe 80, percent” of Room 237. "It's pure gibberish.”

From the Press Release
IFC Midnight is proud to present Rodney Ascher's highly acclaimed ROOM 237, which will be released on March 29, 2013, at IFC Center and Elinor Bunim Monroe Film Center in New York City, followed by a national rollout. The film will simultaneously be available on Cable VOD, iTunes, and other digital outlets (Sundance Now, Amazon Streaming, Xbox, and more).

Since its premiere at Sundance, Room 237 had been a festival sensation at Cannes, Toronto, New York, Chicago, AFI, and Fantastic Fest. The film also won the IDA Documentary Award for Best Editing.

Synopsis
After the box office failure of Barry Lyndon, Stanley Kubrick decided to embark on a project that might have more commercial appeal. The Shining, Stephen King’s biggest critical and commercial success yet, seemed like a perfect vehicle. After an arduous production, Kubrick’s film received a wide release in the summer of 1980; the reviews were mixed, but the box office, after a slow start, eventually picked up. End of story? Hardly. In the 30 years since the film’s release, a considerable cult of Shining devotees has emerged, fans who claim to have decoded the film’s secret messages addressing everything from the genocide of Native Americans to a range of government conspiracies. Rodney Ascher’s wry and provocative Room 237 fuses fact and fiction through interviews with cultists and scholars, creating a kaleidoscopic deconstruction of Kubrick’s still controversial classic.

Factory 25 Bringing Us Fresh Horror Tales with Nancy, Please and Silver BulletsFactory 25 just dropped us a line to let us know they've lined up Andrew Semans'Nancy, Please and Joe Swanberg's Silver Bullets for distribution; and we've got the skinny, artwork, and trailers for both. Dig it!

From the Press Release
Factory 25 has acquired the Tribeca Film Festival film Nancy, Please, a twisted story of obsession and rage directed by Andrew Semans starring Eléonore Hendricks (Bad Fever, Daddy Longlegs and The Dish & the Spoon) and Will Rogers. Nancy, Please tells the story of Paul, a young, gifted, and aimless Yale University student who has just moved in with his girlfriend and is struggling to complete his dissertation before embarking on a career in academia. There’s just one snag: As Paul is unpacking his belongings, he discovers that he has left something behind, and only his obstinate and casually sinister former roommate, Nancy, can give it back to him. Paul contacts Nancy, but she will not cooperate and proceeds to thwart Paul’s clumsy and increasingly frantic efforts to retrieve his property. What should be the simplest of errands becomes intolerably difficult. His annoyance turns to rage and then to obsession. As Paul becomes increasingly consumed with Nancy, he begins to unravel, and his life becomes much, much worse before it gets better. The film premieres theatrically in Chicago on April 5th and in New York on May 24th and will play across the country with screenings continuing through the spring and early summer.

Factory 25 Bringing Us Fresh Horror Tales with Nancy, Please and Silver Bullets

In Silver Bullets, Ethan (Joe Swanberg) is a director who aims to make meaningful art films, but he is struggling with a creative slump and disengagement with his work. His girlfriend, Claire (Kate Lyn Sheil), is an actress whose career is beginning to take off. She has accepted the lead part in a werewolf movie being directed by talented young horror filmmaker Ben (Ti West). Ethan's depression leads to jealousy over both Claire’s success and her increasingly close relationship with Ben. Ethan decides to retaliate against Claire by casting her best friend, Charlie (Amy Seimetz), in a romantic role opposite himself in his new film. As pettiness and jealousy spiral out of control within their relationship, Claire begins to slip into a surreal fantasy world that more closely mirrors her role in the werewolf film than that of her real life.

Largely improvised, Silver Bullets draws inspiration from Chekhov's The Seagull and Roman Polanski's Bitter Moon, while using David Foster Wallace as a reference point to explore fame, depression, and suicide.

Two New One-Sheets Highlight the Errors of the Human BodyWhile we wait for IFC Midnight to release Eron Sheean's indie thriller Errors of the Human Body here in the States, we've managed to dig our claws into two new one-sheets for you cats. Check 'em out!

From the Press Release
IFC Midnight has acquired all North American rights to Eron Sheean’s thriller ERRORS OF THE HUMAN BODY. Sheean wrote the screenplay for the film with Shane Danielsen. The picture stars Germany’s Karoline Herfurth (PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER, THE READER, WE ARE THE NIGHT), Iceland’s Tómas Lemarquis (NOI THE ALBINO, PAINLESS, SNOW PIERCER), Rik Mayall (THE YOUNG ONES), and Canada’s rising star Michael Eklund (THE DIVIDE, THE DAY, FRINGE, ALCATRAZ) and was produced by Instinctive Film’s Darryn Welch and Cole Payne.

Following a divorce from his wife and the loss of his son to a rare genetic mutation, Canadian geneticist Geoff Burton (Elkund) relocates to the harsh, wintry scenery of Dresden, Germany, to work on a groundbreaking new project that might just be his key to redemption. When teamed up with his former intern and colleague Rebekka (Herfurth), he starts working on a human regenerative gene with direct ties to his personal tragedy; yet, matters prove increasingly difficult: Jealous co-workers’ feelings are ruffled, old flames are rekindled, and personal demons become consistently harder to suppress in this new and oppressive work environment.

Still haunted by the memory of his wife and his failures to save his deceased son, Burton finds himself maddeningly close to a medical breakthrough, yet quickly spiraling out of control. Collapsing his career and personal life into a dark and increasingly dangerous tunnel-vision of competitive genetics, delusions of all kinds, and the terrifying potential of massive discoveries gone awry, Burton is quite literally the stranger in the strange land. The question remains: How far will Burton be willing to go to atone for the errors of his past?

Bruce Campbell Talks Evil Dead 4 or Army of Darkness 2 or Something Like That

Bruce Campbell Talks Evil Dead 4 or Army of Darkness 2 or Something Like ThatWhile doing press for the upcoming release of Evil Dead, The Chin, aka Bruce Campbell, had some choice thoughts pertaining to a proper sequel to the original trilogy of films. Read on for the latest.

The reception to this movie [Fede Alvarez's remake] has been pretty good so far so it encouraged Sam and I to go, ‘Well crap, maybe we should dust the old chainsaw off. If this movie helps us make another Army of Darkness – Army of Darkness 2 – then so be it,” he tells Empire Online.

That being said, Army of Darkness actually has two endings, and Campbell would prefer to take up arms for the alternate one. “I would think the post-apocalyptic [ending] because it gives great possibilities for an Omega Man movie and who he might be fighting against. It would be a very interesting world. But I’m fine either way. I’m sure Sam will concoct some ridiculous story and an outrageous journey so I don’t really care where it starts and ends. The fun thing is working again with Sam Raimi. That’s the only reason to do these incredibly difficult movies - [to] work for a guy who you really like working with and who you respect.
