This morning Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow took to Twitter to debut some new artwork for his upcoming film and ask the question: “How can we stand in the light of discovery and not act?” Of course we have it in all of its glory right here.

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, BD Wong, and Judy Greer star in the film, which will be released June 12th in 3D by Universal Pictures.

The new poster features Howard as Claire Dearing coming face-to-face with the Indominus Rex. Want more? Then stay tuned because the monstrous worldwide Jurassic World trailer will debut on Monday morning, April 20th.

This past weekend we saw the first teaser for MTV’s “Scream,” which all but confirmed recent rumors that the iconic Ghostface mask will not be seen in the upcoming series. Naturally, fans are none too happy about that aspect of the show, and neither is executive producer Wes Craven.

In an interesting interview with THR, Craven revealed the nature of his involvement with the series, stating that he basically just put his name on it and didn’t do much else. He also strongly suggested that change isn’t always a good thing and surprisingly expressed regret over the changes he made to Freddy Krueger in New Nightmare.

“In general we didn’t mess with the mask at all,” Craven said, referring to the Scream film franchise. “It’s something we didn’t try to change. With Freddy [Krueger] and the New Nightmare, I felt that I probably should have stuck with the original face. [With Scream,] we just let Ghostface be Ghostface.”

“It would have been safer [not to change Freddy],” Craven continued. “I’m not going to speculate in public, probably shouldn’t have even mentioned it, but you know, sometimes you realize that something’s not broken, so don’t fix it. And that was the course we took on all the Scream films: Don’t mess with that; it’s just perfect.”

According to MTV Senior VP Mina Lefevre, the mask change was made not because of any sort of issues with Ghostface mask-makers Fun World but rather because they simply wanted to put a fresh new spin on the iconic mask.

“If the Scream movie mask was the more plastic version,” said Lefevre, “this one is a more organic-looking and, frankly, darker version.”

“The Killing’s” Bex Taylor-Klaus plays Aubrey Jensen. Also starring in the series are Willa Fitzgerald, John Karna, Connor Weil, Amadeus Serafini, Carlson Young, Tracy Middendorf, and Joel Gretsch. Jamie Travis directed the pilot.

MTV and Dimension TV (The Weinstein Company) bring the series adaptation of the hit horror film franchise to television.  Jill Blotevogel (“Harper’s Island,” “Ravenswood”) and Jaime Paglia (“Arrow”) will executive produce and showrun, with John Shiban (“Hell on Wheels”, “Breaking Bad”) on board as a consulting producer.  Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin (“Criminal Minds,” “The Event,” and “Revenge”) wrote the original script.  Under the Dimension TV production umbrella, Harvey and Bob Weinstein will executive produce.  Additional executive producers are Wes Craven, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena, and Cathy Konrad.

Synopsis:
After a cyber-bullying incident results in a brutal murder, the shocking violence stirs up memories of a  killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others, and maybe just inspired a new killer. A group of teens – with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart – become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets, and victims of a killer who’s out for blood.

In the world of horror, the birth of a child is almost always a bad thing, whether we’re talking classics like Rosemary’s Baby and The Omen or more recent films such as Devil’s Due and Delivery. That sub-genre gets a new addition with Thea, and we’ve got the scoop for ya today!

Screen Daily reports that “Misfits” star Antonia Thomas (below) leads the cast of the London-set thriller, alongside Luke Norris (“Poldark”) and Eileen Davies (Sightseers). Filming is now under way in the capital.

Thomas and Norris play a young couple whose lives are turned upside down when the birth of their first child is accompanied by terrifying entities that threaten their newly formed family.

Directed by Nirpal Bhogal (“Misfits”) and produced by Uzma Hasan (The Infidel), the film is co-produced by Gareth Roberts and Jezz Vernon. Paul Hyett (The Woman in Black) is the creature designer while the team behind electro outfit Gazelle Twin will be composing an original score under the moniker Newt and Benge.

The film is a co-production between Little House Productions and Moli Films and is the first of a slate announced by the site earlier this year which Metrodome is selling internationally and releasing in the UK/Ireland.

Prometheus star Noomi Rapace is set to reprise her role of Elizabeth Shaw in Ridley Scott’s upcoming sequel, but that’s not the only sci-fi flick in her near future. She’s just signed on to another, and on tap today are the first details. So read on!

It was revealed today that Noomi Rapace (“Prometheus,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” “The Drop”) has landed the lead role in “Rupture” – the sci-fi adventure thriller from AMBI Group – the movie development, finance, production and distribution group owned and run by Andrea Iervolino and Lady Monika Bacardi.

Iervolino and Bacardi (“The Humbling,” “In Dubious Battle” “All Roads Lead to Rome”) are teaming with “American Sniper” producer Andrew Lazar and his Tango Pictures Production banner to produce the film. Tango is a partnership between Christina Weiss Lurie, Steven Shainberg, and Lazar. Christina Weiss Lurie (“Inside Job,” “Adam,” “Broken English”), will serve as producer as well.

Plot details remain closely guarded but Rapace will play a single mother who, struggling to raise her son alone, is abducted by a mysterious organization. While trying to escape, she uncovers an extraordinary secret about herself.

Steven Shainberg (“Secretary”) is directing the film, which is based on a story by he and Brian Nelson (“Hard Candy,” “30 Days of Night,” “Devil”). Nelson wrote the screenplay.

AMBI Distribution, the worldwide sales arm of AMBI Group is handling international sales and will formally present the project in Cannes.

Principal photography on the film will commence in June.

Commented Iervolino, “’Rupture’ is an ‘event’ movie and perfect vehicle for Noomi to showcase her immense talent. We’re excited to bring this project to life with her in the lead.”

AMBI is currently in production on James Franco’s “In Dubious Battle,” featuring an ensemble cast that includes Franco, Selena Gomez, Vincent D’Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Ed Harris, Bryan Cranston, Nat Wolff, Josh Hutcherson, Zach Braff, Analeigh Tipton, Ashley Greene, Ahna O’Reilly, John Savage and Sam Shepherd. The film is based on Steinbeck’s gritty, realist style novel In Dubious Battle, which portrays the struggle between labor and capital in 1930s America as close to all out warfare.

There are so many things to tempt us potential sinners, and The Vatican is on the lookout for all of them. Thankfully, the fate of our immortal souls is in the hands of these wise leaders. And one of the main rising threats they’re concerned about is… sexy vampires. Really?

Get a load of this quote from Professor (that’s right, Professor) Giuseppe Ferrari, the head of an Italian occult watchdog organization called The Group on Research and Socio-Religious Information, “There are those who try to turn people into vampires and make them drink other people’s blood or encourage them to have special sexual relations to obtain special powers,” said Ferrari at a conference in Rome recently. “These groups are attracted by the so-called beautiful young vampires that we’ve seen so much of in recent years.”

All right, there is so much hilariously wrong with this statement. First, Ferrari, who is not some radical maniac but is actually backed by The Vatican and Pope Francis himself (incidentally, Pope Francis insists that dioceses have one trained exorcist on campus to deal with any urgent possession issues), seems to believe that there are rogue people out there trying to turn people into vampires (wait, what?) and making them drink people’s blood.  Maybe there are folks out there forcing people to drink the blood of others, but I think we can all agree that they won’t be turning into vampires. They may experience some acid reflux, but they should be safe from vampirism.

Ferrari also mentions the opportunity to have “special sexual relations to obtain special powers.” The victims are attracted by “beautiful young vampires.”  If the sexy vamps that we’ve seen out there are any indication of what is luring unsuspecting people in for sex, then that would be extremely difficult to turn down. But sex with a sexy vampire with the promise of “special powers” to be obtained after climax is damn near irresistible. If Ferrari is trying to get people to avoid these creatures he’s speaking of, he’s doing a pretty shitty job of it.

And if this fairy tale isn’t enough, apparently the head honcho himself has been watching a few too many movies. “Until a few years ago, a significant number of people in the Church didn’t believe in the Devil, but people are now going back to the Scriptures,” said an unnamed British exorcist priest in an interview with The Telegraph. “Pope Francis has given a certain amount of encouragement to that. A few years ago at least half the dioceses in England and Wales did not have an exorcist. Now, pretty much all of them do.”

And we’re the crazy ones. Keep it real, Dreadies.

In a week that has given us the hotly anticipated trailers for the new Star Wars movie and Batman vs. Superman, none can compare in terms of magnitude and majesty to that of the Japanese trailer for The Asylum’s Mega Shark vs. Kolossus. Am I being sarcastic? Honestly, I don’t even know anymore.

It’s only fitting that the Japanese debut the trailer for this fourth installment of The Asylum’s Mega Shark series. I’ve been saying for years that Mega Shark is The Asylum’s Godzilla, and the chaos and destruction on display in this trailer is like watching an old kaiju flick made by hyperactive acid trippers.

Also fitting since the Kolossus is clearly patterned after the Colossal Titan from the hugely popular anime series Attack on Titan. In fact, as you’ll see from the trailer, Mega Shark vs. Kolossus is titled Mega Shark vs. Great Titan in Japan. They truly are “The Global Asylum.”

Ileana Douglas (Ghost World, Otis), Amy Rider (“The Secret Life of the American Teenager”), Brody Hutzler (“The Young and the Restless”), cosplayers Team Unicorn, and Ernest L. Thomas of the 70’s sitcom “What’s Happening?” and its 80’s revival “What’s Happening Now” star in this fourth installment that pits the mega-sized shark against a colossal Cold War atomic automaton called Kolossus with a whole lot of unfortunate airplanes and Naval vessels caught in the crossfire.

The trailer is almost two minutes of such astounding insanity it makes Sharknado look like a sensible melodrama. If you need just one reason to give a damn, Kolossus throws the Mega Shark into orbit, where it smashes into a laser-firing satellite that zaps the moon instead. Mind is blown.

During last night’s return of “Orphan Black” and debut of “Tatau” on BBC America, viewers also got their first look at the network’s upcoming new original series “Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, based on The New York Times bestselling novel by Susanna Clarke and adapted by Peter Harness (“Wallander,” Is Anybody There?), via a quick teaser.  If you missed it, we’ve got it right here!

The seven-part series kicks off sometime this summer.  It stars Olivier Award-winning Bertie Carvel and Eddie Marsan, who take on the magical roles of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, respectively. Other cast members include Alice Englert, Marc Warren, Samuel West, and Charlotte Riley.

The series is directed by Toby Haynes, and the producer is Nick Hirschkorn. It is produced by Cuba Pictures for BBC One and co-produced with BBC America, in association with Feel Films, Far Moor, Screen Yorkshire, and Bell Media’s Space. It will be distributed by Endemol Worldwide Distribution.

Set at the beginning of the 19th-century, England no longer believes in practical magic. The reclusive Mr Norrell (Marsan) of Hurtfew Abbey stuns the city of York when he causes the statues of York Cathedral to speak and move. With a little persuasion and help from his man of business, Childermass (Enzo Cilenti), he goes to London to help the government in the war against Napoleon. It is there Norrell summons a fairy (Warren) to bring Lady Pole (Englert) back from the dead, opening a whole can of worms…

Jonathan Strange (Carvel) is charming, rich, and arrogant. While trying to secure his beloved Arabella’s (Riley) hand in marriage, he meets the magician of Threadneedle Street, Vinculus (Paul Kaye), who tells him he is destined to be a great magician. A shaken and disturbed Strange initially dismisses the claims, but intrigue overcomes, and in an attempt to find his occupation, he tries to practice magic…

We got a few surprises when we saw Unfriended yesterday. Along with the movie being a lot better than expected (it even got a smattering of applause at the end), it came with the trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit attached, which looks to be a ton of spooky fun.

Universal is making us wait for said trailer’s official release (according to Shyamalan himself on Twitter, “It’ll be online next week!,” which is now this week), but We Are Movie Geeks nabbed a photo of the flick’s artwork, which lays out the rules.  Check it out below, and stay tuned; as soon as the trailer is available, we’ll have it for you.

The Visit was written and directed by Shyamalan and stars Kathryn Hahn, Ed Oxenbould, Erica Lynne Marszalek, Peter McRobbie, Olivia DeJonge, Deanna Dunagan, Benjamin Kanes, Jon Douglas Rainey, Brian Gildea, Shawn Gonzalez, Richard Barlow, Steve Annan, and Michael Mariano.

Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has been a busy tweeter this weekend, releasing two more new posters for his upcoming film in advance of the trailer that’s arriving tomorrow.

One features star Chris Pratt riding with raptors (Trevorrow tells us they travel “fifty, sixty miles an hour if they ever got out into the open, and they’re astonishing jumpers…“) while the other relays, “We’ve made living biological attractions so astounding that they’ll capture the imagination of the entire planet.”

They’ve captured us for sure – what about you?

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, BD Wong, and Judy Greer star in the film, which will be released June 12th in 3D by Universal Pictures.

Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) penned the script with Derek Connolly and directs. Steven Spielberg and Thomas Tull executive produce, and Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley produce Jurassic World.

This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of the original Jurassic Park.

More casting news has come in for “Shadowhunters,” the straight-to-series drama based on Cassandra Clare’s YA fantasy series The Mortal Instruments, which was recently picked up by ABC Family. Deadline is reporting that Vampire Academy‘s Dominic Sherwood has been cast as the male lead Jace.

“Shadowhunters” follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother, Jocelyn, is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold. McG will direct the premiere episode.

“Shadowhunters,” from the film’s producer Constantin Film, is slated to go into production in May in Toronto.
