Synopsis
In the year 1752 Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England, to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass, and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet — or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Brouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

Also residing in the manor are Elizabeth's ne'er-do-well brother, Roger Collins (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter, Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger's precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David's new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

The Asylum's latest spookfest The Haunting of Whaley House is getting set to go before cameras, and we have the last bits of casting news and more right here for ya! Dig it!

    From the Press Release
The cast has been officially locked in for The Asylum’s thrill ride THE HAUNTING OF WHALEY HOUSE. The film stars Stephanie Greco (Chemical Peel, Phoenix Falling) as lead character Penny, who is convinced by her friend Craig, played by Graham Denman (Sick Girl, Eyes of the Woods), to give him a private tour of the infamously haunted Whaley House.

“Not only is the script super-scary, but I have the opportunity to play such a wonderfully written character, which is an actor’s dream,” says Stephanie Greco. “What’s funny is that the house we’re shooting at is actually really haunted and I’m the biggest scaredy cat you’ll ever meet, so let’s just say I’ll be sleeping with the lights on for a while!”

Along for the ride is Jake, Penny’s boyfriend, play by Alex Arleo (Celebrity Sex Tape, Barely Legal) and her best friends Vanessa, played by Arielle Brachfeld (The House That Jack Built, Chemical Peel), and Giselle, played by Carolina Groppa (Nannyland, Great American Dream).

“It’s a great, layered script about one of the most haunted places in America, and I have the pleasure of working with some of the greatest people,” says Arielle Brachfeld. “Blood, guts, and ghosts! Hell yes, I’m excited. I’ve been so excited to work on this movie that I’ve had to wear a diaper!”

Once at the house they are joined by Craig’s cousin Ray, played by Jason Owsley (Spooks, Crackpot), who happens to be a huge ghost-hunting enthusiast, and world-renowned psychic Keith Drummond, played by Howard McNair (Cyborg Clone Rambocop 12, The Complex). They tag along to see if the house is really as haunted as they say it is, and needless to say, they all get a definitive answer.

“This is my dream cast,” says writer/director Jose Prendes. “Everyone is so incredibly talented and focused and amazing. I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of guys to point a camera at! To elevate a horror movie you need likable characters and competent actors who the audience can get behind. Mission accomplished, as far as I’m concerned.”

You’ll all get to find out for yourselves very soon. THE HAUNTING OF WHALEY HOUSE goes into production tomorrow, March 6th, for an expected released date of July of this year."

The episode stars Gareth David Lloyd (Torchwood, Doctor Who) as Paul, a man who receives strange phone calls and has macabre conversations through his hand. Who, or what, could be doing this and more sinisterly, what do they want?

Gareth was drawn to Twisted showcase because of his "love of the horror genre and a great script that had been well crafted." As well as offering him "a chance to do something different on screen to anything I'd done before."

Gareth is "very much a fan of web series' as it feels like he's helping to usher in the future of home entertainment." But where next for Gareth after this stunning double role as both Peter and Paul? He says, "It would depend on the script," but he'd love to have a cameo role as Ianto Jones in the 50th anniversary of "Doctor Who." "Ianto is very close to my heart and will always deserve a little resurrection if done properly."

The Walking Dead: Q&A with IronE Singleton (T-Dog); Another Clip from Episode 2.12 - Better Angels

Has everyone recovered from the shock of last night's ep of "The Walking Dead"? Well, the power-that-be aren't about to slow down and give us time to catch our breath. On tap for today we have a chat with IronE Singleton (aka T-Dog) and another sneak peek of Episode 2.12, "Better Angels".

In this week's Q&A Singleton talks about some challenging moments on set this season and explains which character he'd most like to see again.

Q: How is Season 2 different from Season 1 for you?

A: The first thing that comes to mind is our camaraderie. First season, a lot of it took place in town, obviously, and the cast was a bit segregated between those in town and those at the camp. Everybody is there together this season, and that right there has brought us a lot closer as a group.

Q: Is there anything you miss about the "town" group?

A: Merle... If Merle returns... that would make for some epic stuff -- some serious drama I think people would be talking about for a long time.

Q: What was the most challenging thing you had to do this season?

A: The show is so physically demanding. I would have to say the scene we did with the well walker. We had to catch the water pump from falling in the well -- we had to do that so many times. And I was on my backside and I had to kick and claw. The water pump was fake -- but it was quite demanding and really tough because we did it over and over again. By the end of the day, I was exhausted -- it was scorching hot, too.

The Walking Dead: Q&A with IronE Singleton (T-Dog)

Q: I understand you do a lot of charity work in Atlanta.

A: As much as I can, though not quite as much these days because I've been staying so busy. But normally, it's my relatives. My lineage is out of poverty. A lot of my relatives -- cousins, nieces and nephews -- are in that situation. There's so much depression and poverty within my own family, so I spend a lot of my time with them.

Q: Have you inspired anyone in your family to act? What does your family think of T-Dog?

A: It seems like everybody in my family wants to act now! A lot of friends and family and associates have been coming to me. About T-Dog, they give me some criticism -- some may be a little harsh, like, "Yeah you look a little fat on screen!" [Laughs]. But I have a 14-year-old, an 11-year-old and an 8-year-old, and none of them are allowed to watch. We gave my 14-year-old the opportunity and she said no.

Q: I read an article that said you were most famous for your role in The Blind Side. Has that changed since you've been on "The Walking Dead"?

A: Oh yeah. Now I'm getting more people that recognize me for "The Walking Dead:. The cat is out the bag -- what can I say?

Q: This season we found out T-Dog is short for Theodore Douglas. Do you have any other nicknames besides IronE?

A: My wife calls me Rob, or Sing-y. I had a name when I was five or six, my mom called me "Ton." I call my son that now. It reminds me of my days when I still had my innocence. I was four or five and I hadn't really been exposed to a lot. After that a lot of my innocence was stripped away, but I'll never forget that that was the most innocent stage in my life.

Below you'll find the new sneak peek, which aired during this week's "Talking Dead". To stay up-to-the-minute on all things walker related, follow @WalkingDead_AMC on Twitter and visit "The Walking Dead" on Facebook. For more be sure to hit up the official "The Walking Dead" page on AMC.com.

Episode 2.12 - "Better Angels" (3/11/12 Air Date):
The group learns that someone dangerous may be on the loose near the farm. As night falls, Rick, Shane, Daryl, and Glenn comb the woods to handle the situation and keep the group safe. Written by Evan Reilly and Glen Mazzara and directed by Guy Ferland.

New Clips from the Upcoming Premiere of Monster Man on Syfy

We haven't talked about it for a few months, but next week on March 14th "Monster Man" debuts on Syfy, taking a deeper look into movie making magic by following Cleve Hall, the man behind some of Hollywood’s most terrifying creatures. Check out a few clips from the show.

"Monster Man" goes behind the scenes of one of Hollywood’s most respected practical effects workshops. For more than thirty years, when studios want a bizarre creature or out-of-this world alien, they turn to Cleve Hall and the team at SOTA FX. Only the horrifying monsters they build match the craziness of this extremely talented family.

    Syfy's Monster Man

In the premiere episode, “Seeing Double,” viewers will be introduced to the very colorful cast of characters from SOTA FX, as Cleve and the team face a dual challenge: First, famed Friday the 13th director Sean Cunningham demands that Cleve and company conjure up conjoined twins that tear apart for his next feature film. If building this complex appliance for an A-lister isn’t enough, creature feature makers at The Asylum ask Cleve to build a terrorizing two-headed shark – and how does Cleve find inspiration for a two-headed shark? Well, by literally swimming in shark-infested waters.

"Monster Man" stars Cleve Hall, his daughters Constance and Elora Hall, his ex-wife Sonja Maddox-Hall, his best friends Roy Knyrim and Johnny Saiko, and office manager Cindy Miller. Executive producers are Scott Gurney and Deirdre Gurney for Gurney Productions.

The "Monster Man" debut takes place at 11:00 PM (ET/PT) immediately following the second season finale of "Face Off" at 10:00 PM (ET/PT) (see a preview of that in the last clip), and thereafter "Monster Man" will air in its regular timeslot, Wednesdays at 10:00 PM (ET/PT), beginning March 21st.

Dark Horse to Deliver a New Level of Horror in Riven

    0

Dark Horse Comics has announced a new level of horror is on its way: a classic werewolf tale entitled Riven. The third collaboration between co-writers Bo Hampton (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow) and Robert Tinnell (The Wicked West), Riven is 196 pages of finely tuned terror that will send shivers up your spine!

“Riven is a stone killer of a werewolf story with a fragile young woman as a protagonist. It was irresistible for us to create, and we’re betting the readers will agree it was well worth the wait,” said Bo Hampton. “She’s adopted from a Romanian orphanage at the age of three and brought to America. At the age of thirteen an accident puts her in a coma—but doctors are completely baffled because her brain waves spike every thirty days—in direct correlation with the full moon.”

“I always say that it’s tough to really scare people in a comic book—for a variety of reasons. When Bo and I did Sight Unseen a few years ago, we worked really hard to try and legitimately frighten or otherwise unnerve the reader. And it would seem we were successful. Now we have more pages, and we had a vision for genuinely trying to not only creep out the reader but really jolt them in places,” Robert Tinnell stated. “I think if you like to be scared, you’ll have good reason to respond to Riven because I honestly believe there are very scary moments in this book.”

    Synopsis:
Katya has been in a coma for five years, and when she awakes, everything has changed. Now she is a gorgeous teenager with a mysterious, gruesome past, becoming aware of a growing, terrifying power inside her body, triggered by the touch of the full moon, eager to break free... Can Katya solve the mystery of her blood-drenched nightmares before they become reality?

All fans of horror should look for Riven, which goes on sale August 22, 2012.

Nico Tortorella Joins Kevin Williamson's Still Untitled Project for Fox TV and Provides Massive Update

Nico Tortorella Joins Kevin Williamson's Still Untitled Project for Fox TVAnd the cast of Fox TV's still untitled new project being put together by Kevin Williamson continues to grow, and one of the newest additions has provided a "mega" update on the series via his website that includes a full casting breakdown.

First off, the addition in question is Nico Tortorella (pictured right; Trespass, Scream 4, Odd Thomas), who will be portraying Will Wilson. More info on the character can be found below. He and the also newly cast Jeananne Goossen ("Alcatraz") join James Purefoy, Kevin Bacon, Natalie Zea, Shawn Ashmore, and Valorie Curry.

The project, from Warner Bros. TV, is a thriller about ex-FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Bacon), who leads the search to catch diabolical serial killer Joe Carroll (Purefoy), who has created a cult of serial killers. Marcos Siega ("The Vampire Diaries", "Dexter") is set to direct the pilot, written and executive produced by Williamson, creator of the Scream horror movie franchise and co-creator/executive producer of The CW’s "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Secret Circle".

It will be filmed in Atlanta later this month, and Fox will most likely announce if the show will be part of its 2012/13 lineup in May. If the show is ordered to series, it will produce only 15 episodes a season instead of the standard 22 (a concession made by the network to entice Kevin Bacon to the project).

Now here's the casting breakdown provided by Tortorella's website:

    JOE CARROLL - James Purefoy
Caucasian, a handsome man in his 40s, with an intelligent face and a brilliant mind, Carroll moves with ease and confidence. In his past life Carroll was an English professor at Southern Methodist University in Texas. Charming and charismatic, Carroll was a favorite among the students. He was also a devoted husband, father, and novelist. His first and only novel was a critical and commercial failure, which ultimately proved to be the escalation trigger that led Carroll to brutally murder 14 female students. A devotee of Romanticism, Carroll removed his victims’ eyes as a nod to his favorite author, Poe. Captured by FBI agent Ryan Hardy, Carroll has been in Huntsville Prison ever since, plotting his next novel. After escaping from prison with a double murder, Carroll sets his diabolical masterpiece in motion.

    RYAN HARDY - Kevin Bacon
In his late 30s–40s, handsome in the most damaged of ways, Ryan lives alone in Atlanta; he’s tired and textured by life and by plenty of booze. An up-and-coming FBI agent/profiler nine years ago, Ryan was responsible for arresting serial killer Joe Carroll. Following his instincts, Ryan tracked and captured Carroll, managing to save Carroll’s final victim, Sarah Fuller, in the process. However, Ryan was wounded in his confrontation with the serial killer, and thus his FBI career was cut short. With no other options, Ryan has since written a bestselling account of Carroll’s grisly crimes and pays the bills with TV appearances as an expert on true crime. He still carries the emotional scars of nine years ago and hasn’t quite been able to move on. However, Ryan is hauled out of retirement when Joe Carroll escapes from prison and plunges into the details of an FBI investigation for the first time in almost a decade. Ryan is often unpredictable and volatile in his emotions, but he proves to be a sharp, quick, insightful judge of Carroll’s character and an expert predictor of Carroll’s next diabolical move.

    JENNIFER MASON - Jeananne Goossen
In her 30s, attractive and all business, she’s the Special Agent in Charge of the investigation into the escape of serial killer Joe Carroll. She’s been ordered by her superiors to oversee Ryan Hardy, who has been brought in to consult on the case. Mason is tough as nails and calls things as she sees them. She is wary of Ryan’s volatile state of mind, but Mason soon realizes that Ryan’s expertise and instincts are the key to bringing down Joe Carroll.

    CLAIRE MATTHEWS - Natalie Zea
In her 40s, the ex-wife of Joe Carroll and once a Literature professor at Southern Methodist University. Claire has been able to build a new life for herself and Carroll’s son, Joey. She is a controlled woman, refined, sophisticated, and full of strength. But when Carroll escapes, Claire struggles to hold it together. Claire’s relationship with Ryan Hardy is complicated and full of history. He is the only FBI agent she trusts. During Ryan’s investigation, they are forced to meet again after years apart, thus bringing old memories and emotions to the surface.

    AGENT RILEY - Shawn Ashmore
A younger FBI agent, he’s an eager Fed, more brains than brawn. Partnered with Weston, he’s assigned to assist Jennifer Mason in her search for escaped serial killer Joe Carroll and is regularly seen interacting with cops and victims.

    WILL WILSON - Nico Tortorella
A handsome young man in his 20s, Will is Sarah’s next-door neighbor. The boyfriend of Billy Thomas. Will is Sarah’s support system, a friend in her time of need, ready with Chinese food and company while Carroll is on the loose.

    DENISE - Valorie Curry
A sweet-faced girl of 24, she is Joey’s trusted nanny.

The remaining roles have yet to be cast so look for more soon!

    AGENT MIKE WESTON
A younger FBI agent, he’s an eager Fed, more brains than brawn. Partnered with Riley, he’s assigned to assist Jennifer Mason in her search for escaped serial killer Joe Carroll, and is regularly seen interacting with cops and victims.

    BILLY THOMAS
Another handsome young man in his 20s, Billy is Will’s boyfriend and Sarah’s next-door neighbor. He is also a friend to Sarah while she deals with Carroll’s prison escape. Billy isn’t afraid to throw out a quip or two in an attempt to lessen Sarah’s worry.

    JOEY MATTHEWS
10 years old, he is the son of Joe Carroll and Claire Matthews; he lives with his single mom, has never met his serial-killer father, and is mature enough to know that his daddy is a bad man.

    TEXAS RANGER SCOTT TURNER
In his 50s, a hardened good ol’ boy who wears a big cowboy hat, Turner is a Captain of the Texas Rangers, and he’s also deeply involved in the search for Joe Carroll. A man who knows Ryan Hardy quite well from the original investigation into Carroll, Turner regards Hardy as a one-hit wonder. Dubious about Hardy’s character, he questions just about every one of Hardy’s insights.

Rufus Sewell and Anne Heche to Dabble in The OccultIf there's anything that we're thankful for around here, it's the stupidity of the human race. People are always looking to stick their noses where they don't belong, and the horror genre is here to chop them off!

According to Variety producer Mickey Liddell (The Grey) has set up The Occult with Rufus Sewell (pictured), Anne Heche, and newcomer Alycia Debnam-Carey in final negotiations to star in the thriller, which Christian Christiansen (The Roommate) will direct.

The story follows a small commune dealing with a prophecy that predicts the coming of the devil's daughter. As the shared 18th birthday of five girls approaches, a sequence of murders causes panic to spread through the community, making some wonder whether the prophecy is coming true or if someone is silencing those who know too much.

The flick will go into production this month in North Carolina. More as it comes.

A bit of time has passed since our last update on the struggling adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower saga, but fans shouldn't give up just yet as director Ron Howard has provided a brief update via Twitter.

Website Fans Share posted the following info:

A fan recently asked Ron Howard on Twitter whether or not he was still looking to direct The Dark Tower, and Ron retweeted the message with a response. It read, “@RealRonHoward please answer me do you direct THE DARK TOWER? I hope and plan to. Love it.”

So there you have it. Not really earth-shattering we know, but at least it seems things are still progressing, albeit slowly.

Last we heard HBO will be handling the TV portion of Howard's and producer Brian Grazer's vision for the series, which encompasses multiple films and television seasons, but still nothing's been confirmed yet.

We'll keep you posted as more details filter in.

    This Chick Looks Pretty Dead

Word of this film came in as a review request, but after checking out the movie's synopsis and trailer, we thought we should give you guys an early heads up. Director Benjamin Wilkins brings us a fresh take on a couple of horror sub-genres with the upcoming film Pretty Dead.

The story revolves around Regina Stevens, a woman who appears to be stricken with some sort of mental and physical illness, but questions abound as to what exactly is wrong with her. Pretty Dead can be described as a zombie film but from an entirely new angle. Also this is a found footage picture. But all the footage shot needed to be from scenes that would actually be filmed by a reasonable person and introduced as evidence for investigating the murders committed by Stevens. We like what we're hearing so far.

Pretty Dead had an ultra-low budget, coming in at under $15,000, but what we see and hear so far makes us believe we've got some sharp filmmakers on our hands, and hopefully that $15k was stretched thin and used in all the right places. The film stars Carly Oates, Ryan Shogren, Quantae Love, Emily Button and Dave Matos.

Check out more info on the film via the Pretty Dead website and like them on the Pretty Dead Facebook page. We think this is one worth keeping an eye on. More to come as we get it. Stay tuned.

    About Pretty Dead
The movie is composed entirely of found footage chronicling the last days of Regina Stevens, a young doctor who, after killing and cannibalizing several men and being found unfit for trial in 2007, was diagnosed with Cotard's Syndrome--a rare dissociative disorder also known as "Walking Corpse Disease."

While being held in a Los Angeles County psychiatric ward, she desperately tried to convince her psychiatric caregivers that she was not actually mentally ill, but was in fact slowly becoming a real life zombie. Several weeks after being committed, she suddenly died from unknown causes and her body mysteriously disappeared.

The film is composed entirely of footage obtained from the evidentiary archives of the 2009 US District Court case against the California State Health Department for the return of Regina's body to her family.

There's not much we can say that will prepare you for the short film attached to this article. Director Pierre Ayotte brings us Massacrator, something of a Terminator parody that simply must be seen to be believed. We'll let the film speak for itself.

Shot over the course of a weekend with leftover Super-8 film, Massacrator features a futuristic cyborg, his iron-pumping female target and a resurrected Elvis. No, I'm not kidding. Basically free of dialogue, but set to a catchy soundtrack, we guarantee after watching Massacrator you will not say, "Oh, this is just like (insert film title here)." This is not like anything.

If you like what you see, speak up in the comments section. We've got a couple other shorts by Ayotte we can share with you if you dig Massacrator. The film stars JP Flayeux, Daniella Jovanovic and Matt Monastesse. It even has its own website at Massacrator.com. Check it out, and if you want more, say so.

    About Massacrator
This razor-sharp thriller is old school: cheap film, no computer FX, most characters end up dead. Action fans will appreciate the gritty fight scenes and high speed motorcycle chase in an apartment. Elvis fans will dig the skinny guy in a padded Elvis suit. Girl fans will love the girl that gets decapitated. Director Pierre Ayotte supplies everything you need for a memorable B-movie experience, including a catchy surf-rock soundtrack by the great Pierre Ayotte.

Eastern Kentucky's own Jonestown Films, in association with Silver Chain Films, has a home invasion movie that is sure to have you locking your doors at night and maybe even installing a deadbolt or two.

The Killbillies family certainly look like people you don't want showing up at your house after the sun goes down ... or at noon for that matter.

The Killbillies was written, directed and produced by Tory Jones and stars Stacey Gillespie, Brandon Leslie, BJ McGee, Bobby Jones, Kayla Perkins, John Shockley, Tammy Baker and Randall Edwards. It's a low-budget effort, but you don't need big dollars to make a bunch of mountain men busting into your home scary, do you?

The word is that Jonestown Films is already planning a sequel to The Killbillies, which is yet to be released. Now that's positive thinking! You can see more on the film at The Killbillies website and check out The Killbillies on Facebook.

The Killbillies debuts on March 31st in Richmond, KY. Much love to Avery G for the tip.

    Synopsis
In 2004 the Holbrooks were preparing for their annual family homecoming. But what they could not have expected or been prepared for was the pure brutality and horrific events that would be bestowed upon them that fateful October evening. The events of that night would baffle local authorities and forever come to be known as the night of The Killbillies.

Trailer for Nazis at the Center of the Earth is Unearthed

For my money the most shocking aspect of the trailer for The Asylum’s Nazis at the Center of the Earth is finding out that star Jake Busey is not actually playing a subterranean Nazi zombie.

In the flick Busey (Contact) and Dominique Swain (Face-Off) lead a team of Antarctic researchers abducted by a team of masked stormtroopers and dragged deep underground to a hidden continent in the center of the earth where Nazi survivors, their bodies a horrifying patchwork of decaying and regenerated flesh, led by Dr. Josef Mengele are preparing to revive the Third Reich.

Longtime Asylum FX supervisor Joe Lawson makes his directorial debut. Asylum stalwart Paul Bales scripted this tale of hollow earth horror.

Nazis at the Center of the Earth will surface on DVD and VOD come April 24th. Here’s the trailer of the underground goose-stepping nightmare The Asylum is preparing to unleash.

Trespassers Getting Ready to Violate Your Cinematic PropertyYet another adaptation of a graphic novel is on its way to the big screen, and we've got all the details on what's next from the pages of your favorite horror print collection. Check it out!

According to Variety, Scott Hampton's supernatural graphic novel Trespassers is headed toward the big screen with Ryan E. Heppe producing and Bob Gale (Back to the Future) on board to adapt.

The story centers on a group of mythbusters who are set on debunking the legend of a famous and allegedly haunted house. They have their scientific rationality tested when they discover demonic guardians, a gateway to hell and the fact that not all of them are exactly who they claim to be.

"A good horror flick needs one thing: a simple, original premise that's terrifying as hell," Heppe said. "Add to that obvious franchise potential and the opportunity to combine 'found footage'-style scares with traditional filmmaking frights, and you've got something really unique."
