While we didn't think that this new horror flick would be a feature length version of the famed purging scene from the Stephen King classic Stand by Me, official word is finally here pertaining to what type of horrors we can be looking forward to.

The Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey thriller The Purge , which is written and directed by James DeMonaco, will open in theaters May 31, 2013. The film is being released by Universal from its deal with producer Jason Blum, who partners with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. Blum, Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form are producing with Sébastien Kurt Lemercier.

Synopsis
If on one night every year you could commit any crime without facing consequences, what would you do? In The Purge, a speculative thriller that follows one family over the course of a single night, four people will be tested to see how far they will go to protect themselves when the vicious outside world breaks into their home. Searching for answers, Damon and Stefan visit modern day New Orleans to see if they can find anyone who remembers the events of their last visit in 1942, including one of Damon’s former flames, Charlotte (guest star Madeline Zima).

Elena, Caroline (Candice Accola), and Bonnie (Kat Graham) share a girls’ night while the Salvatore brothers are out of town, and emotions run high when Elena delivers some shocking news. At Hayley’s (guest star Phoebe Tonkin) urging, Tyler (Michael Trevino) confronts one of Klaus’ hybrids, Kimberly (guest star Alyssa Diaz), and the situation quickly escalates into violence.

THR reports Legendary Pictures is already laying the groundwork for a sequel, tapping Travis Beacham to pen the script. Beacham wrote the initial treatment for Pacific Rim, as a spec script, which Legendary picked up in June 2010. Del Toro quickly became involved in its development, and when his passion project At the Mountains of Madness fell through, he made it his next picture. Warner Bros. will distribute.

Synopsis:
Peaceful, rustic Metzburgh is a quiet village that was a former industrial town whose glory days are long past after the collapse of Metzburgh Grain. Teenager Mark Lowe (Jason John Beebe) and his ex-girlfriend Lucy Greenheart (Sarah Manzella) are stuck in a lovers quarrel when a meteorite crash lands in the passive community. Glen (Robert Bozek ), an ex-employee of the grain silos who became homeless after the collapse of the mills, stumbles upon the fiery crash. Unaware that his find could be dangerous, he gets too close and a chemical poison sprays out of the meteorite, enveloping him. The chemical agent known as Ombis begins to turn his insides into a slimly substance. Unable to stop the spread of the infection, Glen runs onto the road, where Mark and Lucy find him. The two take him to the only Doctor in town, Doctor D (Deborah Manzella).

Mark and Lucy are shocked by their gruesome discovery and immediately contact the local sheriff (Richard Satterwhite), who is on a date with lovely waitress Daisy (Kathy Murphy). With their date being interrupted, they aid the traumatized lovebirds. With no sign of the creature or its victims, Brackett dismisses Mark's fantastic story. Quickly returning to where the meteorite crash landed, Mark finds a new horrific discovery that the meteorite wasn't the only creature to crash land on Earth.

With the townsfolk overrun by the virus and the collateral damage adding up, a special containment team shows up to try to keep order and contain the plague. The human struggle of the residents of Metzburgh and their fight for survival then begins as the village is overrun with the alien invasion and the mutated humans that it creates.

Premiering at next year's Sundance Film Festival (running January 17-27, 2013, in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah) is Fox Searchlight’s Stoker, and we have another bit of eye candy for you to dig on!

Wentworth Miller (who also penned the tale as Ted Foulke), Mia Wasikowska, Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Jacki Weaver, Lucas Till, Dermot Mulroney, Phyllis Somerville, and Alden Ehrenreich star.

Stoker is the first in a planned trilogy. Park Chan-wook is the Korean master of genre cinema, having directed Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengenace and Lady Vengeance, along with Thirst and JSA.

Look for the flick in theatres on March 1st, 2013.

Synopsis
After India’s (Wasikowska) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Goode), whom she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother (Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

Jack and Diane, written and directed by Bradley Rust Gray, stars Juno Temple, Riley Keough, Cara Seymour, and Kylie Minogue. Fresh off its recent screening at Shockfest Film Festival in Hollywood, The Black Dahlia Haunting has released a new theatrical trailer and creepy promotional poster. Dig the artwork and get a look at the preview right here.

The Black Dahlia Haunting grabbed 10 nominations at Shockfest with Brandon Slagle winning Best Director, Devanny Pinn taking Best Actress and "Monster Man" Cleve Hall named Best Monster.

Synopsis
LOS ANGELES, 1947: An aspiring actress named Elizabeth Short is found brutally murdered in an empty lot in Los Angeles. The media dubs her "The Black Dahlia" due to her penchant for dark clothing. Her murder remains unsolved to this day. Although it's not without its suspects.

LOS ANGELES, NOW: A young woman, Holly, is visiting Los Angeles from New York City after she is informed of the brutal murder of her father and stepmother by her younger brother, Tyler, who is blind. Upon meeting Tyler's psychiatrist, Dr. Owen, Holly soon becomes aware that she is not in full possession of the facts surrounding the murder. Plagued by violent dreams, Tyler has been drawing the face of a woman he could have never possibly met, a woman identical to Elizabeth Short.

As Dr. Owen continues to evaluate Tyler's condition, he learns that Tyler "speaks" to Elizabeth, and she may have ordered him to murder his parents. In essence, "hurting the ones who hurt him." Holly soon begins seeing Elizabeth as well, culminating in Elizabeth's spirit paying her a visit, proclaiming to Holly that she can set her free from all of her burdens.

Consumed by the spirit of the Dahlia, Holly engages in a war with not only herself, but also the dark figures revealing themselves around her, encouraged by Elizabeth to "hurt the ones who hurt her."

UPDATE
We have confirmed that the below still that was sent our way is actually from Pandorum, but you have to admit Norman Reedus' look is quite similar between the two projects. Well then. We feel much better. Better to have a false alarm than to have someone we all love go out like that!
