The Following Gets a Facelift in This New Promo Photo for Season 2For us, "The Following" started out great but lost steam quickly. So we're hoping Season 2's reboot can get it back on track. One step in the right direction is this new promo photo featuring Emma (Valorie Curry) and a creepy mask.

New faces joining the show this year include Jessica Stroup as Ryan Hardy’s NYPD specialist niece, Sam Underwood as a dangerous young man/possible follower of Joe Carroll, Tiffany Boone as the latest inductee of Carroll's murderous cult, Valerie Cruz as an NYPD cop who works closely with Mike Weston, and James McDaniel as an FBI agent.

Also appearing in Season 2 are Connie Nielsen as a romantic interest for Ryan, Keith Carradine as a friend of Ryan, Jacinda Barrett as Julia, a disarming and alluring woman with mysterious intentions, and Lee Tergesen as Kurt Bolen, a seemingly normal family man who may harbor a dark secret.

"The Following" Season 2:
Following the season finale of "Sleepy Hollow" at a special time on Monday, January 20, 2014 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), last season’s No. 1 new series, "THE FOLLOWING" (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), begins its 15-week uninterrupted second season.

Created by Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dawson’s Creek,” the Scream franchise) and starring Golden Globe Award-winning actor Kevin Bacon (X-Men: The Last Stand, Frost/Nixon) and James Purefoy (“Rome”), Season 2 will catch up with RYAN HARDY (Bacon) in the wake of a horrific new murder spree. The FBI calls on Ryan and MIKE WESTON (Shawn Ashmore) to speak with the lone survivor, LILY (Connie Nielsen; “Boss,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), in order to help them solve the case. Ryan is reluctant to re-engage with the FBI but finds a valuable ally in his niece, MAX (Jessica Stroup, “90210”), an NYPD cop working in the Intel Division.

As the investigation proceeds, Ryan crosses paths with several complicated individuals, including LUKE (Sam Underwood, “Dexter”) and MANDY LANG (Tiffany Boone, Beautiful Creatures), which furthers his suspicion that JOE CARROLL's (Purefoy) reign of terror is far from over.

Tim Hawken's Decide Set for December Release; Movie Buzz Abounds

Decide, Final Book of Tim Hawken's Hellbound Trilogy Set for December Release; Movie Buzz AboundsTim Hawken's Hellbound book trilogy will be completed this December when his new book, Decide, is released. Additionally, there has been much discussion about turning the story into a movie series featuring Charlie Bewley.

Coolness!

For more visit the official Tim Hawken website, "like"Hellbound on Facebook and follow Tim Hawken on Twitter (@tim_hawken).

From the Press Release
The third and final book in Tim Hawken’s Hellbound Trilogy is set for release this December, amid development of a film franchise for the series. Titled Deicide, the novel concludes the epic story, which depicts a world of Hell never seen before.

Early critical acclaim and a strong cult following for Hellbound meant Hawken’s work captured the attention of Hollywood right from the start. The author has recently signed partnerships with both Luber Roklin Entertainment and Savela/Kabatoff Productions to help bring his vision to the silver screen. In addition, actor Charlie Bewley (Twilight, "Vampire Diaries", Hammer of the Gods) has been attached to play the lead character of Michael in the films.

“I found out about Hellbound when a friend gave me the first book,” Bewley said of the trilogy. “I knew right away I wanted to play Michael. Hawken’s dark genius leaps off the page in a visceral way. It grabs you and shakes you up, leaving you thinking about it for months afterward. This is the next big thing in the supernatural genre. The struggle for redemption in a dark world is something that resonates with everyone it touches.”

Ken Kabatoff of Savela/Kabatoff Productions also expressed his excitement at being involved with the Hellbound franchise. “This was an easy decision for us to make. Tim’s series is as enticing as the forbidden fruit itself. It has alluring visuals, crisp dialogue and an invigorating story, all staged in an ancient setting, which Hawken has turned on its head. It’s going to make one amazing film.”

Hawken himself remains humble about the attention his work has received to date. “When you first write something like this, you really don’t know how it’s going to be received. Being a previously unknown author from Australia, I still pinch myself that so many people have shown confidence in my work, right from my publishers, to the fans and now to filmmakers and actors. It’s crazy. The next step is bringing a major studio on board, but with the team of people behind Hellbound now, it feels like the momentum is only getting stronger. It’s a very good atmosphere to be launching the last novel in. Deicide is going to lift it to the next level and end with a bang!”

Deicide will be available from all good book retailers, in both paperback and ebook formats from early December, via Rethink Press.

Exclusive First Stills from Day of the MummyJesse Baget's Ruthless Pictures is already cookin' on its next feature, Day of the Mummy, and we have the first and exclusive stills for you right here. Also included is one of the helmet cam they built to shoot the film POV style which looks kinda cool! Dig 'em!

From the Press Release
Mixing sex, gore and a good dose of ass-kicking action, Day of the Mummy revs a classic subject into high gear. Shot almost entirely in video game-style POV, the film follows bad boy archaeologist Jack Wells, who, in hopes of getting his hands on the famed diamond known as the Codix Stone, joins a group of archaeologists out to explore the newly discovered tomb of the cursed king Neferu.

When the bloodthirsty mummy of the king rises from the dead seeking human victims, Jack and his team are in for the most horrifying experience of their life.

Of the film Baget says, “I wanted to see something different done with a classic subject matter, and I think Day of the Mummy is it.” He adds, “I like to try and think up new ways to entertain an audience. It’s the best part of what I do.”

Director Johnny Tabor looks forward to making a film that “puts you right smack dab in the center of the excitement.” He wants to “take everything we love about the nostalgia of 80's adventure flicks and weave it with today’s horror and then splash a coat of modern cinema on it."

Co-writer Garry Charles is excited to be part of the project, saying, “It’s been a pleasure to breathe some life into a sub-genre of horror that is usually ignored in favor of vampires and zombies. Can't wait to see what Jesse and the rest of the team will do with it.”

Final Destination Creator Jeffrey Reddick Offers Superstition a Final ChanceThere are few people we love more around these parts than Jeffrey Reddick. The guy's simply the salt of the Earth (and a truly sick bastard to boot), and any time word comes of a new project he's working on, we get instantly excited. Speaking of which...

Variety reports that Global Renaissance Entertainment Group has entered into a multi-picture production deal with Reddick which will feature multi-ethnic and culturally diverse casts, kicked off by Reddick’s screenplay Superstition: Final Chance, a horror/thriller set on a university campus.

Reddick will also work with Global to develop the adaptation of Omar Tyree’s supernatural thriller Leslie into a trilogy of pictures that will take its characters beyond the novel’s story. Tyree is known for his “Flyy Girl” trilogy of novels, which were acquired this year by Lionsgate’s Codeblack Films.

Original Cut of Snowpiercer Coming to the States After All?

Original Cut of Snowpiercer Coming to the States After All?For over a month now we've been talking about the edits Harvey Weinstein made for the US release of Bong Joo-ho's Snowpiercer. Yep, no matter how you slice it they suck, but there may be light at the end of this tunnel.

THR reports that Joon-ho said, in a press conference Wednesday at the Mar del Plata Film Fest, that his talks with the Weinstein Company are now more about releasing the original cut of Snowpiercer instead of a shorter and faster version made by the distributor.

I stayed in New York for two weeks before coming here to Mar del Plata, mostly because of this matter,” said the director. “And the good news is that after all the speculation and comments about that 20-minute cut, and considering the original version that was released in Korea and France also will be released in Japan and Hong Kong, we have been talking a lot about keeping the original cut for the U.S. release, so what I can say is… have faith.

The Weinsteins expect to release Snowpiercer sometime in 2014.

The English-language directorial debut of Bong Joon-ho (The Host), the film stars The Avengers’ Chris Evans, The Help’s Octavia Spencer, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Alison Pill, Tilda Swinton, and Song Kang-ho. Based on the graphic novel Le Transperceneige, Snowpiercer is set in the not too distant future, where a new Ice Age has wiped out most of the human race. With a revolt brewing onboard, the Snowpiercer is a train of Earth’s lone survivors that travels around the cold world.

Teases of What's Ahead in American Horror Story: Coven Episode 3.08 - The Sacred Taking - and Beyond

Spoilery Teases of What's Ahead in American Horror Story: Coven Episode 3.08 - The Sacred Taking - and Beyond"American Horror Story: Coven" graces the cover of this week's EW so along with some tidbits about Ep. 308, "The Sacred Taking," we have a few badass photos and teasers about the end of Season 3 like the possible return of Stevie Nicks!

What can we look forward to in "AHS: Coven" Episode 3.08, "The Sacred Taking," which doesn't air until December 4th? Here are the highlights from EW.com's recent chat with exec producer Ryan Murphy.

"American Horror Story: Coven" Episode 3.08 - "The Sacred Taking" (airs 12/4/13)
Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) rallies the girls in the fight to stop Fiona (Jessica Lange) while a dangerous new enemy puts Misty (Lily Rabe) in the cross hairs. The rivalry between Marie Laveau (Angela Bassett) and Delphine (Kathy Bates) comes to a head.

Q: What can you say about LaLaurie’s future?
Well, I just think now that Marie Laveau has her back, she is going to make her life a living hell and she’s going to get her revenge. I think if LaLaurie thought living underground for all eternity was hell, she hasn’t seen nothing yet! It’s sort of an interesting synthesis of the rock up the hill idea because she can’t die. So Marie Laveau can really make her pay over and over and over again and feel pain and yet not die. So we have a lot of interesting episodes dealing with that.

Q: Is Queenie fully immersed in the voodoo witches?
Yes, she’s trying to acclimate with that culture. She finds it both liberating, but the truth of the matter is she does miss her friends over at the Robichaux house. She’s a lady torn.

Q: Is that truly the end of Spalding?
...[H]e does come back of course. I think Spalding as a ghostly entity is almost more interesting than real life Spalding because he has many, many, many secrets. He knows where literally all the bodies are buried. The question is: Who is he going to come back to protect?

Q: Will we see more flashbacks like Kyle's?
We’re working on a great one right now that shows you how Madame LaLaurie became Madame LaLaurie. So we’re researching what actually happened to her. How did she go from being this creature to Jeffrey Dahmer? What happened?

Q: Will the final eps be about Cordelia plotting Fiona's death?
Well, something happens in the next episode that is very eye-opening and illuminating for Cordelia which is this idea that no matter how much she hates her mother and no matter how horrible she is, Fiona really is the strongest witch of them all. Do you get rid of your strongest player at a time when the witch hunters are trying to kill you? Also, Fiona is so smart she’s going to know if her daughter is trying to off her. Do you think she’s going to stand for that? I don’t think so. I feel something bad is in the works for Ms. Cordelia.

Q: Is Hank going to unleash war on the witches?
Well, he’s planning a big, big, big doomsday event, which we deal with in our winter cliffhanger, which is two episodes from now. It’s not pretty. It’s a great episode called “Head.” Everything is about things that happen in the head. If you saw the cover of Entertainment Weekly, you can kind surmise what happens to Kathy Bates.

Q: What can you say about the next episode?
It’s called “The Sacred Taking.” It’s a tradition that dates back to the Salem days. Sometimes to protect other witches, a witch is allowed to create a sacred act, which is taking her own life. It is about that idea, and the question is you know Fiona’s not going to go there on her own accord so the other witches try and get her to a place of trying to do that.

Q: How did Stevie Nicks' guest appearance go?
You know, Stevie is just fantastic. I don’t think Lily Rabe has recovered. She was great. She gets to sing. She does a little acting, which she was great in. The great thing is Stevie has some wonderful ideas based on some of her songs so we were like, “Oh we’re going to use that.” So we’re actually going to try and have Stevie come back and do another episode because she’s so good.

Spoilery Teases of What's Ahead in American Horror Story: Coven Episode 3.08 - The Sacred Taking - and Beyond

Now here are five of the ten teases Murphy gave the magazine. Be sure to hit the link below for the rest!

1. A new Supreme will be chosen: "Coven's" January 29th finale, which reveals Fiona's (Jessica Lange) successor, will unfold a tad differently from previous "AHS" conclusions. "It usually is a very nihilistic ending. But this year is different because it's an incredibly dark-comedy ending, which I like," says Murphy, who continues, "Nobody has guessed who the Supreme is."

2. Cordelia will regain her sight: Miss Robichaux's headmistress will see again...at least for a while. "She does get her sight back from something Myrtle (Frances Conroy) does that's incredibly gory and devious," explains Murphy. "She's also going to find out a lot of secrets about her husband that throw her into a midlife-crisis breakdown, which is very juicy."

3. We haven't seen the last of the religious-fanatic neighbors: Promises the producer, "Joan [Patti LuPone] has a big story coming up. She has many episodes left." [Writer's note: YAY!]

4. Get ready for voodoo Satan: That would be "Coven's" take on Papa Legba, who stands between the living and the dead. "You find out that's how come Marie Laveau looks so good — because she sold her soul years ago. He's a very dark, funny, popular spirit."

5. We will see the Seven Wonders: The new Supreme will perform the much-talked-about series of challenges that prove her dominance. "We have not done that ceremony [yet], and I always knew that would be the last episode."

Yet Another Filmmaker Departs The Stand Adaptation

$

Yet Another Filmmaker Departs The Stand AdaptationThe more I hear about the adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand from novel to motion picture, the more I become convinced that it's one of those things that just never going to happen.

The film has been talked about since the 1980s, with King originally wanting George Romero to direct. Since then, an increasingly frustrating series of unfortunate events has played out, which has just seen another filmmaker leaving the helm.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) has fallen off The Stand, joining the previously departed Ben Affleck and David Yates. Cooper was going to write and direct the film, and no official word has been given as to why he got cold feet. Sources say either creative differences or a disagreement about the film's rating are to blame. Cooper apparently wanted an R rating, while Warner Bros. is pushing for a PG or PG-13.

The studio is said to be moving fast to find a replacement, and the names being thrown out as possibilities range from Cary Fukunaga and Paul Greengrass to Daniel Espinosa and Denis Villeneuve.

The Stand is a story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. It features dozens of characters (including such memorable ones as the Trashcan Man and Mother Abigail) and overlapping storylines running over many years as it tells of a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Attached to Sandman Adaptation?

$

0

It's been a while since we've heard anything about Warner Bros' adaptation of Neil Gaiman's comic series The Sandman. In fact, it's been a couple years. But if recently revealed rumors are true, a big name is vying for the lead role, and the film is finally headed out of the dream world and into reality.

According to Badass Digest's Devin Faraci, reliable sources have indicated to him that not only is WB is very interested in David Goyer's take on The Sandman, but that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is interested as well. Apparently he's looking to play the lead character Morpheus, though we're going to have to chalk these reports up to rumor at this point.

Even if all of this is true, it certainly wouldn't be the first time a Sandman adaptation has been on the table. Various different writers and directors have been on board at various stages in the development over the years, so I wouldn't start getting excited until the cameras start rolling.

Expect more on this one soon!

James Foley Set to Climb Jacob's Ladder

James Foley Set to Climb Jacob's LadderI'm not sure how well a remake of Jacob's Ladder would work, given the fact that so much of the experience is reliant on the twist at the end, but that's not stopping Hollywood from having a go at it. They're calling it an homage, rather than a remake, and a director has just been tapped to helm the project.

Read on for the skinny!

As per The Wrap, James Foley has signed on to direct the so-called homage. Foley was the director of 1992's Glengarry Glen Ross and he has recently directed episodes of Netflix's "House of Cards" and NBC's "Hannibal."

Mickey Liddell and LD Entertainment’s Jennifer Monroe are producing the project with Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig. Jeff Buhler, who wrote the Clive Barker adaptation The Midnight Meat Train, is penning a script building upon an earlier draft by Jake Wade Wall, the scribe behind the 2006 remake of When a Stranger Calls.

The original flick, written by Bruce Joel Rubin and directed by Adrian Lyne, ostensibly told of a Vietnam War vet who suffers increasingly bizarre hallucinations and attempts to discover the truth behind them. The movie, which has a twist ending, was made by Carolco and achieved cult hit status. With this remake the producers are looking to make something more akin to an homage and not mimic the original. The plan is to contemporize the story with new situations and characters but still maintain a story that examines issues and poses existential questions.

Emily Blunt Joining All You Need is KillI love Emily Blunt. And the thought of her in a horror movie makes me happy. Which is why I'm happy right now. Read on to find out what the hell I'm talking about!

As reported by The Wrap, Ms. Blunt is attached to star in an upcoming psychological thriller called Sister, an adaptation of Rosamund Lupton's best-selling novel of the same name. Interestingly enough, Blunt's sister in real life is a literary agent who represents the book, making this one a true family affair. As I learned firsthand in my high school years, the only thing better than one blunt is two!

Kevin McCormick is developing the film under his Langley Park banner, with StudioCanal financing the development. A screenwriter has not yet been found.

The London-based mystery follows Beatrice (Blunt) as she investigates the death of her younger sister Tess, whose death is ruled a suicide by police. Convinced that her sister was murdered, Beatrice sets out to uncover the strange events leading up to Tess’ death, though she may pay a terrible price for the truth.
