Sure, it has all the components of a good horror movie firmly in place, but this story actually happened in Dayton, Ohio. An adventurous young lad decided to enter into an old thought-to-be-abandoned house in his neighborhood to do a little exploring and found more than he bargained for.

As per CNN, neighbors thought the house was abandoned, and it looked that way. The front door was papered with citations for the overgrown yard, and no one came and went from the address. The home was unfurnished.

Inside, however, was the body of Edward Brunton, who hanged himself with a belt in a closet in 2009. Brunton was in his late 40s at the time of his suicide.

The closet shielded his body from rapid decomposition, animals, and insects, resulting in the mummy-like condition the boy found it in. The child in question at first thought that he had found a dummy or a mannequin. Little did he know he had made a far more ghastly discovery.

The boy's mother, Michelle McGrath, went into the house to investigate. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until she entered the room that housed the closet. "When I crossed the threshold of the room, is when I smelled it," she said. She called the police.

Authorities found identification documents on Brunton's body. His estranged brother, who still recognized him, confirmed it was him.

Synopsis:

Midsummer Films and China Film Group are behind this filmed-in-Beijing production from director Eric Styles, whose previous directorial effort was a 2008 Heather Graham romantic comedy Miss Conception, and screenwriter Andy Briggs, the author of the recent Syfy Original Movie The Philadelphia Experiment.

We've mentioned DreadStalker previously, but now Legendary has a firm release date for Issue #1, which you'll find below.

As for A Town Called Dragon, it's not pure horror, but it does sound intriguing so we've included it here as well.

Last year actress Jane Clark made her feature directorial debut with Meth Head, which she follows up this year with the slasher flick Crazy Bitches. On tap for you today is the trailer for the horror comedy ahead of its premiere at next month's Outfest Film Festival. Dig it!

Written and directed by Jane Clark, the film stars Samantha Colburn, Cathy DeBuono, Andy Gala, Liz McGeever, Victoria Profeta, and Guinevere Turner.

Synopsis
Eight "crazy bitches" reunite for a weekend of gossip and girl-talk at a remote cabin in the woods. A few drinks into their weekend, they learn of a gruesome crime that occurred at their campsite. Dismissing it as a tall tale, the gang continues its celebration with red wine, hanky-panky, and cat-fights – until one of them disappears. As the fun-filled holiday turns into a race against death, the girls turn both to and on each other.

Synopsis
Manipulated by a loving and jealous husband, Gloria has run away with her daughter and started a new life far away from men and from the rest of the world. Alleluia is the free adaptation of a news item that shook the United States from 1947 to 1949: the story of Martha Beck and Raymond Fernandez, or how a young nurse and a swindling small-time gigolo will fall into a deadly tragedy.

We never thought we'd see the day where we'd get to report on Robert Englund slapping on the burnt makeup and reprising the role of Freddy Krueger, and though this exciting announcement unfortunately has nothing to do with a movie...

... it's nevertheless one of the downright coolest pieces of news we've ever had the pleasure of sharing.

In celebration of A Nightmare on Elm Street's 30th anniversary, Chicago's Flashback Weekend convention has just announced that Englund will be appearing at this coming August's event in full Freddy Krueger makeup and outfit, for one night only. Best of all, a special ticket package will nab you a picture with Englund, as Freddy, which is something that has NEVER before been offered up to us fans.

The event takes place from August 8th-10th at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, with Englund appearing as Freddy on Friday, August 8th, ONLY. In addition to the meet and greet session, he'll also take to the stage in full costume as part of a live talk show event.

Utilizing the same extensive process used on the Elm Street film sets, the makeup will be applied by FX legend Robert Kurtzman, who worked on both Dream Child and New Nightmare. This will mark the first time Englund has ever appeared as Freddy on the convention circuit, and it's likely the last time he will ever don the iconic makeup.

Synopsis:

As his trials become more and more extreme, Tore finds his capacity for love and resilience pushed to its limits and beyond.

More casting news has hit the wire for the latest spooker from Legendary Pictures, Spectral, as THR is reporting that Cory Hardrict (American Sniper, Transcendence, Warm Bodies) has joined the ever-growing cast.

He joins the previously announced James Badge Dale and Max Martini. The flick is being directed by Nic Matthieu.

The premise of the project is centered on a modern-day, militaristic, and gritty approach to fighting the supernatural.

The pitch, which sold for six figures, has been described as a darker and more serious take on a Ghostbusters-like story with a plot that revolves around a special ops group formed to bring down evil ghosts that have taken over Manhattan. Locations and details might change, however.

The most promising game of the upcoming year just got even more tantalizing. Today in an interview The Witcher 3 senior visual effects artist, Jose Teixeria, revealed that the game will have 36 different endings.

Teixeria was quick to point out that he does not refer to them as endings but rather as "world states" as the game will continue after the main storyline quests are completed.

He alludes to the variability of certain villages being destroyed and certain characters being either alive or dead, which will all affect the world state that the player experiences. This hints that the element of choice will feature very heavily in the The Witcher 3.

The news is a sign that the developers at Cd Projekt Red are pushing the RPG to true next-gen levels. Where a lot of RPGs falter is in their low replayability. By providing a wealth of different conclusions to the game, players can be sure they will be coming back to this title time and time again, a feat that was just not possible on the previous generation of consoles.

This news is coming on the tail of a very strong showing for the game at this year’s E3, as developers held an impressive demo during the Microsoft press conference. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available February 27th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

An interesting bit of news regarding Paramount has come our way via The Hollywood Reporter. In an article regarding the studio's presence at CineEurope, it was divulged that Paranormal Activity 5 has been moved to 2016.

The studio also confirmed a sequel to Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters for the same year. The news comes directly from Paramount Pictures International SVP, EMEA Edward Ryan, who dropped the news on CineEurope attendees after a screening of Transformers: Age of Extinction.

This is a BIG delay to say the least for Paranormal Activity fans, but the extra time could be just what the franchise needs to get it right this time after the misfire of Paranormal Activity 4 and the poor showing of the actually good Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. Gregory Plotkin is going to make his directorial debut on Paranormal Activity 5 from a script by Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark (Almanac). He has a long list of credits as an editor or assistant editor on films that include Pleasantville, The Insider, and The Break-Up. He has become more and more involved in the Paranormal Activity found-footage franchises, and now he gets his shot behind the camera.

Both Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton are presumably attached to return as Hansel & Gretel, two bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world. As the fabled Blood Moon approaches, the siblings encounter a new form of evil that might hold a secret to their past.

Horror filmmakers around the world can still submit their projects for the Screamfest Film Festival 2014 program, which is taking place in Los Angeles October 14-23. The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2014.

Screamfest is the largest and longest running horror film festival in the United States. It has been celebrating the genre for over a decade, and the festival has grown significantly since its 2001 debut. Executives from major film companies and distributors in Los Angeles regularly attend the festival looking for acquisitions.

“Screamfest draws the best and the brightest in the ever-growing horror genre market,” says Rachel Belofsky, Founder, Screamfest. “We’re so excited to screen this year’s submissions and are looking forward to discovering the next big hit in horror.”

The festival’s biggest success story is the discovery of Paranormal Activity. It premiered at Screamfest, was subsequently acquired by Paramount, and has since gone on to five sequels.

Other notable horror premieres include Marcus Dustan and Patrick Melton’s The Collection, Michael Dougherty’s Trick 'r Treat, 30 Days of Night, David Arquette’s The Tripper, and The Human Centipede, which was later spoofed on "South Park."

American Mary, directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska, swept the awards in 2012 and received distribution from the festival screening. The filmmakers have gone on to direct See No Evil 2 for WWE Films and Lionsgate. The majority of films screened at Screamfest garner distribution, including last year’s opening film, Beneath, which was acquired by IFC Midnight.

Notable foreign films that have premiered at Screamfest and were later made into studio remakes include Ju-on (The Grudge), A Tale of Two Sisters, Let the Right One In, and En Osynlige (The Invisible).

Attention, filmmakers... please stop finding footage. Too much has been found already. No one should be looking for more. The ship has sailed. Still... sometimes a gem can sneak through. Is Come Back to Me such a gem? It definitely uses said footage in a unique way. Watch the trailer and decide!

Directed by Paul Leyden, Come Back to Me stars Matt Passmore, Katie Walder, Nathan Keyes, and Laura Gordon.

The film revolves around a young woman (Walder) who suffers memory lapses and blackouts after a car accident.

She then learns she is pregnant, but her husband (Passmore) is infertile, which leads her to set up a security camera in their bedroom. The trailer seemingly reveals what their creepy neighbor (Keyes) is doing to her in the night: “Killing and bringing you back - it’s how he connects.”

It’s a twist suggested by the title of the novel The Resurrectionist, from which the film was adapted by Leyden. Come Back to Me is the feature writing and directing debut for Leyden, whose acting credits include "As the World Turns" and "The Young and the Restless."

It was executive produced by Sergin Akyaz and produced by Anne Clements. Freestyle Releasing and Freestyle Digital Media are handling distribution.

Come Back to Me will be released in limited theaters and on all digital platforms on July 25.

Some possible news is coming in for Scott Derrickson's adaptation of Doctor Strange for Marvel as Deadline is reporting that Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, The Darkest Hour, The Mummy reboot) is in negotiations to write the script for the franchise launching film.

Created in 1963, Doctor Strange is the story of an arrogant surgeon who is injured in a car accident and goes on to become the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel universe. Using his magical powers, Strange protects the Earth from attacks from other realms.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige is producing. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, and Stephen Broussard are executive producing.
