And the news keeps on coming as Variety is reporting that Headhunters helmer Morten Tyldum has come on to direct the Warner Brothers adaptation of the Swedish thriller Chain of Events with Mark L. Smith attached to adapt.

Described as World War Z meets The Da Vinci Code, the book was written by Frederick T. Olsson and follows a washed-up cryptologist who finds himself pulled into an international conspiracy that claims to have created a way to map out all human disasters and terrorism through our DNA.

Roadside Attractions has earmarked an October 10 US release for The Devil’s Hand, formerly Where The Devil Hides, formerly The Devil's Rapture. Directed by Christian E. Christiansen, the flick stars Jennifer Carpenter, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Rufus Sewell, Thomas McDonell, Adelaide Kane, Leah Pipes, Colm Meaney, Stacey Edwards, and Ric Reitz.

Lionsgate will release The Devil’s Hand on VOD, DVD, and TV platforms.

Synopsis
Something very strange happened in the small village of New Bethlehem, a devout community kept under the tight reins of the town's vigilant Elders. File this one under "Wow, Really?!?" Some quick and pretty damned strange news has come in regarding the next installment in the Texas Chainsaw franchise as it's looking like we're getting another prequel. A prequel to the tenth power even.

The filmmakers behind Texas Chainsaw 3D (UNRATED Blu-ray/DVD review here) were never big on mathematics, as proven by their "direct sequel" to Tobe Hooper's seminal classic which found the ages of characters all over the place with little to nothing making sense in terms of the whens and the wheres. That is, however, another story.

Right now Bloody Disgusting is reporting that "an unidentified writer is rumored to be in talks to pen Leatherface’s 'teenage years.' This would mean that Dan Yeager would not be returning as the iconic chainsaw-wielding slasher, and that it would be [another] sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 TCM… and a prequel to last year’s TC3D." You follow?

Somehow this is going to really fuck up our space/time continuum. Color us befuddled. Tell us what you think about this latest development below.

Synopsis
A young soldier arrives on the doorstep of the Peterson family, claiming to be a good friend of their beloved son who died in action. The Petersons welcome David into their home and into their lives, but when people start mysteriously dying in town, mayhem ensues as their teenage daughter, Anna, starts wondering if David is responsible.

An oft-told tale is that of the haunted pub with prankish spirits that topple pints and glasses to the dismay of patron and barkeep alike. Now there's a spin to the story: a ghost that may pull a prank every now and again but respects the beer too much to spill any in the name of shenanigans.

The Crow's Nest Inn in Cornwall is an historic pub dating back to the 17th century. As with most pubs of that era, there are tales of multiple ghosts going back quite a few years, including that of a local woman who was murdered in 1844.

Some of the haunted happenings include a clock that always ran 10 minutes fast no matter how many times it was reset and a bell that would ring by itself. New owners Jenny Heard and Martic McConn blew off the tales until a recent night when the seemingly impossible happened - in front of a bar full of witnesses no less.

The Plymouth Herald in the UK reports that witnesses, including the barkeeps, say the pub went deathly chill from out of nowhere. At the same time, a pint of ale (Proper Job brand, in case that factors into the spirit's tastes) flew off the bar and landed on the floor... without spilling a drop!

The entire pub tried to find a source of the event and was left puzzled. Nobody was near the pint, and all doors and windows were closed tight.

Could this have been a former customer of the pub trying to grab a pint from the great beyond? Latent telekinesis from one of the patrons trying to grab the ale from afar? Let us know what you think!

A few months have passed since we last got an update on Brianne Davis'The Night Visitor 2: Heather's Story, but in the interim the director has been hard at work, and today we're debuting the film's teaser trailer.

The Night Visitor 2: Heather’s Story was written by Kevin and Bradley Marcus and Mark Gantt. Caitlin Carmichael, Mark Gantt, Chip Coffey, and Jennifer Blanc-Biehn star.

Synopsis:
The Night Visitor 2: Heather’s Story is a sci-fi thriller that runs parallel to the original The Night Visitor, telling the story of Heather (Carmichael), a special young girl who must protect her family and the planet from the same other-earthly being. The sequel delves deeper into the mysteries that plagued the Stevens family and their son, Ricky, with the help of psychic and medium Daniel (Coffey).

Taking place August 24 at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA, the 10th Annual Johnny Ramone Tribute will bring family, friends, and fans together to celebrate the late punk guitarist's legacy with a special outdoor screening of host Rob Zombie’s The Devil’s Rejects.

The Sunday evening event will also include a jam session featuring Zombie, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses.

With the concert to be held in Hollywood Forever's Masonic Lodge and broadcast outside to the overflow crowd (ticketing information is below), the event will also feature Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett's special collection of horror movie memorabilia. Rarely seen in public, the collection includes a treasure trove of movie posters, props, toys and costumes from his personal collection.

Additionally, an autograph signing session featuring the stars of The Devil's Rejects will take place, with proceeds to benefit the Johnny Ramone Foundation and Dr. David Agus, USC.

Advance General Admission tickets are $19, day-of General Admission is $25, and VIP admission is $45, which enables the buyer to receive food and cocktails courtesy of Stillhouse Spirits, admission to the VIP area, and VIP seating for the simulcast of the all-star Ramones jam session and movie screening. Septic Man Release Details
Starz Digital Media is set to release the award-winning horror film Septic Man this summer. The film will be available On Demand and for digital download August 12 and will have a limited theatrical run on August 15. The DVD will be available August 19.

From the creators of Monster Brawl, Exit Humanity, and 2014’s Hellmouth and Ejecta, Septic Man dazzled audiences at the 2013 Fantastic Fest, where its star Jason David Brown (Exit Humanity) won “Best Actor” in a horror feature. The film also garnered a prize at Toronto After Dark 2013.

Septic Man follows Jack, a sewage worker who is determined to uncover the cause of the town's water contamination crisis. During his investigation, he becomes trapped underground in a septic tank and undergoes a hideous transformation. Synopsis

Icon Film Distribution will release the acclaimed hit horror THE BABADOOK in UK and Irish cinemas on 24 October.

In the film Gabby Hoffman plays a mother's whose grief over the death of her toddler leads to horror. Ingrid Jungermann, Rebecca Street, Kim Allen, Michael Che, and Ashlie Atkinson also star.

Lyle was written and directed by Stewart Thorndike, produced by Alex Scharfman, and is said to be the first of three upcoming female-focused horror films Thorndike has in the works.

The found footage flick As Above, So Below, directed by John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine, Devil), will be in theatres on August 29th; and during the San Diego Comic-Con, Evan Dickson had a chance to speak with them about it and more. Read on for the skinny.

On going indie (or at least more indie-minded) after being in the studio system for a while: "After Devil we decided to get back to our homemade aesthetic, and it took a couple of years to sort of rebuild what we were doing."

"This last year we made two movies, this one and The Coup, which is coming out March 6th. We almost made that one after Devil with Lionsgate, but that would have been more of the studio version with a different cast. At the time we were bummed, and it took awhile to rebuild it, but I think it ultimately became a better movie."

What’s it like trying to convince a studio or financier to see the value in your vision? "As Above we did with Legendary so it is a studio movie technically. And yet, they gave us all the freedom we could ever hope for. It was an independent experience within the system."

"And we had a lot of freedom on The Coup with this financier, and we sold to The Weinstein Company, who have been great. Things like The Coup are so execution dependent. It’s hard to convince someone that it’s the right idea to do on paper. You have to go off and do it sometimes before people realize you were right. When things are execution dependent, you have to go execute them."

"What’s refreshing about Legendary is that there was so much execution dependent with As Above, and they were still like, ‘Go do it.’ Not many studios would have given us that freedom."

Still, this is a smaller film than the big sweeping movies Legendary is known for. "It’s kind of a new thing. It’s one of the most visually appealing found footage movies I think I’ve seen. It doesn’t have a super video look. These characters would have a good camera; they would do this right. It looks quite beautiful, and Paris of course lends itself to photography quite nicely. As far as other Legendary movies, I think it fits with their audiences, but this could be part of their genre arm if they had one. It doesn’t feel like Pacific Rim obviously."

Structurally a lot of found footage features tend to spin their wheels in the first act. I imagine you don’t do that here? "Yeah, we get it going with a kick." Did the studio hold you back in terms of content? "Not at all. In one of our earlier meetings we said it would be ‘R’ and they said, ‘Great.’"

Dowdle wrote the script with his brother, Drew, and the film stars Ben Feldman, Perdita Weeks, and Edwin Hodge.

The film centers on a young man whose life takes a turn for the worse when he attempts to make amends after his recently deceased girlfriend returns from the dead. Look for it in limited release on August 15th.

Synopsis
Zach is devastated by the unexpected death of his girlfriend, Beth. But when she miraculously comes back to life, Zach takes full advantage of the opportunity to share and experience all the things he regretted not doing with her before. However, the newly returned Beth isn’t quite how he remembered her, and before long Zach’s whole world takes a turn for the worse.

Production on Syfy's upcoming "12 Monkeys" series begins next month, and along with more details on that we have two new cast members to announce, one of whom is quite near and dear to our horror-loving hearts.

Syfy’s adventure thriller "12 Monkeys" will commence series production August 6, 2014, in Toronto, Canada. The season, consisting of 13 episodes, stars Aaron Stanford (as time traveler Cole), Amanda Schull (Dr. Cassandra Railly), Kirk Acevedo (Ramse), and Noah Bean (Aaron Marker).

Syfy also confirms additional casting, inking Tom Noonan (pictured; The House of the Devil, The Roost, "Hell on Wheels") and Emily Hampshire (Cosmopolis, "Rookie Blue") for recurring roles. Noonan portrays a mysterious villain who is the face of the enigmatic Army of the 12 Monkeys. Imposing and intelligent, Noonan’s character will be at the center of the conspiracy. Hampshire will portray Jennifer Goines, a dangerous, unstable mental patient who might have the key to unraveling the mystery of the 12 Monkeys locked away in her head.

Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven (American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International) will executive produce. Roven served as producer on the original film. Jake Kurily will serve as Atlas’ executive on the series. Natalie Chaidez ("In Plain Sight,""V,""Heroes") is the executive producer/showrunner, and Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett ("Nikita"), who co-wrote the pilot, will serve as co-executive producers. Jake Kurily will serve as Atlas’ executive on the series. "12 Monkeys" is produced by Atlas Entertainment with Universal Cable Productions.

Inspired by the classic blockbuster film, "12" Monkeys explores the provocative story of Cole (Stanford), a time traveler from a decimated future in a high-stakes race against the clock. Utilizing a dangerous and untested method of time travel, he journeys from 2043 to the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will all but annihilate the human race. The series will explore the themes of fate, destiny, love, and the possibility of second chances.

The series is slated to premiere in January of 2015.

After a successful showing as part of the Los Angeles Film Festival, Dread Central has just learned that IFC Midnight have just acquired the distribution rights to Seth Grossman's horror flick, Inner Demons.

We've been talking about the flick Chemical Peel since 2014 and now year's later the flick has finally nailed itself some distribution courtesy of Lionsgate. Read on for when you can see this bad boy and then head straight to the dermatologist.
