Writer/director Adam MacDonald’s Backcountry (review) is finally seeing the light of day as IFC Midnight has scheduled its release via VOD and digital platforms on March 20th. Right now, though, we have a brand new poster for you!

Another book-to-film adaptation is heading our way, and this one has a pretty impressive pedigree! Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have set screenwriter Kristin Gore (daughter of Al) to write a psychological thriller based on Jon Ronson’s The Psychopath Test.

Per Deadline, Scarlett Johansson is attached to star with Jay Roach (Meet the Parents) directing. Brian Grazer will produce along with Roach and his Everyman Pictures banner and Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey. Erica Huggins and Jennifer Perini will be exec producers.

In news that’s bound to make you either cheer or cringe, Dan Aykroyd is still dead set on making the Ghostbusters 3 movie we’ve all been hoping for a reality.

Aykroyd sat down this week at the SiriusXM studios for an episode of “Unmasked with Ron Bennington” and shared a few more details.

“Oh, I’ve written… well, we have… I’ve written, well, there’s three drafts of the old concept that exists,” he stated, “and we’re going to be able to salvage some of it and use it. Yeah, we’re gonna be able to use it some day. Let’s get this one [the reboot] made and that will reinvigorate the franchise and then we’ll go on to maybe doing a more conventional third sequel as we were planning and another idea I have for it.”

So, what say you? Go for it, or stick it in the Bass-o-matic?

In the interim, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones are on board to play the brand new ghostbusting quartet. The reboot from director Paul Feig will begin haunting theaters on July 22, 2016.

We’ve been talking about the possibilities of this happening for several days now, and Fox has heard all the noise from us and elsewhere! Neill Blomkamp’s next movie will be an Aliens film for Fox.

According to Deadline Ridley Scott’s Scott Free will produce the movie, which Blomkamp will direct. He will develop a script that is set after the Prometheus 2 story. Scott is set to direct and produce the Prometheus sequel. Sources add that there is no script for Prometheus 2 or the new Alien film.

Blomkamp used an Instagram post to confirm the project he had talked about online in recent months!

It sure is a good news day for people named Neil (one “l” or two)! Deadline is reporting that director Neil Marshall and his longtime agent Marc Helwig have formed a TV/film production company, Applebox Entertainment, which has signed a two-year overall deal with Legendary TV.

Also of note to “Hannibal” fans: Most recently Marshall has been directing upcoming episodes of the NBC series so we have that to look forward to in the short term.

But back to the Legendary deal… The English-born duo will develop scripted dramas with a focus on elevated genre fare and projects with worldwide appeal.

“Aside from our longstanding business relationship, going on 17 years now, Marc and I are also great friends and share a common passion and desire to create exceptional television and movies,” Marshall said. “Marc understands the business, inside and out, but he also understands and appreciates that great drama comes from a great story and great characters.”

Following in the footsteps of yesterday’s massively exciting news that Neill Blomkamp is officially directing an Alien film for 20th Century Fox is yet another thrilling bit of information, which should be music to your Xenomorph-loving ears. Read on for the latest!

It has now been 100% confirmed that Alien director Ridley Scott will be producing Blomkamp’s installment in the enduring franchise, which is based on various pieces of concept art he recently worked up on his own time. But that’s not all.

Not only will Scott be producing but it’s being said that Blomkamp’s unnamed Alien film will take place directly following the events of Prometheus 2, which Scott is currently working on. The first Prometheus was loosely tied to the Alien franchise, and it looks like that connection will soon become stronger than ever.

Of course, Prometheus 2 hasn’t even begun filming yet, so those looking forward to seeing what Blomkamp does with the iconic property have quite a long wait ahead of them. But we’ll do our best to make that wait as easy on you as possible, by keeping tabs on this developing project.

Another new video has hit Funny or Die that’s right up our alley as it takes a look at the rules of being a vampire with some of the gang from What We Do in the Shadows. Dig it!

What We Do in the Shadows Release Details:
Unison Films, in association with Funny or Die and Paladin, released “Flight of the Conchords” creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi’s Toronto Film Festival People’s Choice Award-winning WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS in New York and Los Angeles on February 13, followed by an expansion into major markets, including San Francisco, Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, and Washington, D.C., on February 20, with a continued national rollout throughout February and early March.

Unison Films is heading up the theatrical release along with Paladin. WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, produced by Unison Films and Defender Films, along with producers Waititi, Chelsea Winstanley, and Emanuel Michael, follows the adventures of four vampire roommates trying to get by in a modern world that’s not always hospitable to the undead.

Clement and Waititi, creators of the HBO hit series “Flight of the Conchords,” co-wrote, co-directed, and co-star in this hilarious send-up in which an endearingly unhip quartet of friends ranging in age from 183 to 8,000 years old squabble over household chores, struggle to keep up with the latest trends in fashion and technology, antagonize the local werewolves, and deal with the rigors of living on a very, very strict diet. The film also stars FOTC’s Rhys Darby, Jonathan Brugh, Cori Gonzalez-Macuer, Stu Rutherford, and Jackie Van Beek.

Synopsis:
While traveling across country, Zoe, a lovely deaf mute woman, stumbles on a horrific crime – a gang of rednecks slaughtering two Native American boys. Zoe’s brave attempt to save one of the boys seals her fate. She is captured, raped, and left for dead. When an Indian shaman finds her clinging to life in a shallow grave, he attempts to save her – but something goes horribly wrong. The spirit of an ancient Apache warrior takes host of Zoe’s dead body. So now she walks amongst the living, hell-bent on getting revenge. One by one she slaughters the men who brutalized her, while the clock ticks away on her quickly decomposing body.
